Passages

Torah — Exodus 19:1 - 19:6

LEB translation

19:1 Preparation for Receiving the Covenant at Mount Sinai In the third month after the Israelites went out from the land of Egypt, on this day they came to the Sinai desert.
19:2 They set out from Rephidim, and they came to the desert of Sinai, and they camped in the desert, and Israel camped there in front of the mountain.
19:3 And Moses went up to God, and Yahweh called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you will say to the house of Jacob and you will tell the Israelites,
19:4 ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and I brought you to me.
19:5 And now if you will carefully listen to my voice and keep my covenant, you will be a treasured possession for me out of all the peoples, for all the earth is mine,
19:6 but you, you will belong to me as a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you will speak to the Israelites.”

Gospel — Mark 7:24 - 7:30

LEB translation

7:24 A Syrophoenician Woman’s Great Faith And from there he set out and went to the region of Tyre. And when he entered into a house, he wanted no one to know, and yet he was not able to escape notice.
7:25 But immediately a woman whose young daughter was possessed by an unclean spirit, when she heard about him, came and fell down at his feet,
7:26 Now the woman was a Greek—a Syrophoenician by nationality—and she was asking him that he would expel the demon from her daughter.
7:27 And he said to her, “Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs!”
7:28 But she answered and said to him, “Lord, even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”
7:29 And he said to her, “Because of this statement, go! The demon has gone out of your daughter.”
7:30 And when she went to her home, she found the child lying on the bed and the demon gone.
