9:1 Worship at the Tent of Assembly
Then on the eighth day Moses summoned Aaron and his sons and Israel’s elders,
9:2 and he said to Aaron, “Take for yourself a bull calf as a sin offering and a ram as a burnt offering, without defect, and present them before Yahweh.
9:3 Then you must speak to the Israelites, saying, ‘Take a he-goat as a sin offering and a bull calf and a male sheep, yearlings without defect, as a burnt offering,
9:4 and an ox and a ram as fellowship offerings to sacrifice before Yahweh, and a grain offering mixed with oil, because today Yahweh will appear to you.”
9:5 So they took what Moses had commanded to the front of the tent of assembly, and the whole community presented themselves, and they stood before Yahweh.
9:6 Then Moses said, “This is the word that Yahweh commanded you to do so that the glory of Yahweh might appear to you.”
9:7 Then Moses said to Aaron, “Approach the altar and sacrifice your sin offering and your burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself and for the people. And sacrifice the people’s offering and make atonement for them, just as Yahweh has commanded.”
9:8 Then Aaron approached the altar, and he slaughtered the bull calf of the sin offering, which was for himself.
9:9 Then Aaron’s sons presented the blood to him, and he dipped his finger in the blood, and he put it on the altar’s horns, and he poured out the blood on the altar’s base.
9:10 And the fat and the kidneys and the lobe from the sin offering’s liver he turned into smoke on the altar, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses,
9:11 but the meat and the skin he burned with fire outside the camp.
9:12 Then he slaughtered the burnt offering, and Aaron’s sons brought the blood to him, and he sprinkled it on the altar all around;
9:13 and they brought the burnt offering to him by its pieces, as well as the head, and he turned them into smoke on the altar;
9:14 and he washed the inner parts and the lower leg bones, then he turned them into smoke upon the burnt offering on the altar.
9:15 Then he presented the people’s offering, and he took the goat of the sin offering, which was for the people, and he slaughtered it and offered it as a sin offering like the first one.
9:16 Then he presented the burnt offering, and he sacrificed it according to the regulation.

Gospel — Matthew 10:26-42
LEB translation
10:26 Fear God Rather Than People
“Therefore do not be afraid of them, because nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, and nothing secret that will not become known.
10:27 What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light, and what you hear in your ear, proclaim on the housetops.
10:28 And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul, but instead be afraid of the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
10:29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And one of them will not fall to the ground without the knowledge and consent of your Father.
10:30 And even the hairs of your head are all numbered!
10:31 Therefore do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
10:32 “Therefore everyone who acknowledges me before people, I also will acknowledge him before my Father who is in heaven.
10:33 But whoever denies me before people, I also will deny him before my Father who is in heaven.
10:34 Not Peace, But a Sword of Divisiveness
“Do not think that I have come to bring peace on the earth! I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
10:35 For I have come to turn a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
10:36 And the enemies of a man will be the members of his household.
10:37 The one who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and the one who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
10:38 And whoever does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
10:39 The one who finds his life will lose it, and the one who loses his life because of me will find it.
10:40 On Rewards
“The one who receives you receives me, and the one who receives me receives the one who sent me.
10:41 The one who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and the one who receives a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.
10:42 And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he will never lose his reward.”
