Numbers 10:11 - 10:34
10:11 The Israelites Depart from Sinai
And it happened, in the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth of the month the cloud was lifted from upon the tabernacle of the testimony.
10:12 And the Israelites set out for their journey from the desert of Sinai, and the cloud dwelled in the desert of Paran.
10:13 They set out for the first time on the command of Yahweh in the hand of Moses.
10:14 The standard of the camp of the descendants of Judah set out for the first time according to their divisions, with Nahshon son of Amminadab over its division.
10:15 And Nathanel son of Zuar was over the division of the descendants of Issachar;
10:16 Eliab son of Helon was over the division of the tribe of the descendants of Zebulun.
10:17 The tabernacle was taken down, and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari, the bearers of the tabernacle, set out.
10:18 And the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their divisions; Elizur son of Shedeur was over their division.
10:19 Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai was over the division of the sons of the tribe of Simeon.
10:20 Eliasaph son of Deuel was over the division of the tribe of the descendants of Gad.
10:21 The Kohathites, the bearers of the sanctuary, set out, and they set up the tabernacle before they arrived.
10:22 And the stand of the camp of the descendants of Ephraim set out according to their divisions; Elishama son of Ammihud was over its division.
10:23 Gamaliel son of Pedahzur was over the division of the tribe of the descendants of Manasseh.
10:24 Abidan son of Gideoni was over the division of the tribe of the descendants of Benjamin.
10:25 Then the standard of the camp of the descendants of Dan, who formed a rear guard for all the camps, set out according to their divisions; Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai was over its division.
10:26 Pagiel son of Ocran was over the division of the tribe of the descendants of Asher.
10:27 Ahira son of Enan was over the division of the tribe of the descendants of Naphtali.
10:28 These were the departures of the Israelites according to their divisions; and so they set out.
10:29 Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel the Midianite, the father-in-law of Moses, “We are setting out to the place that Yahweh said, ‘I will give it to you’; go with us, and we will treat you well because Yahweh promised good concerning Israel.”
10:30 But he said to him, “I will not go. I will only go to my land and to my family.”
10:31 He said, “Please, do not abandon us because you know our encampment in the desert, and you should be our guide.
10:32 Moreover, if you go with us, the good that Yahweh will do to us we will do to you.”
10:33 And so they set out from the mountain of Yahweh a journey of three days, with the ark of the covenant of Yahweh setting out ahead of them three days’ journey to search out a resting place for them;
10:34 and the cloud of Yahweh was over them by day when they set out from the camp.
NIRV translation
Numbers 10:11 - 10:34
10:11 The People of Israel Leave the Sinai Desert
It was the 20th day of the second month of the second year. On that day the cloud began to move. It went up from above the holy tent where the tablets of the covenant were kept.
10:12 Then the people of Israel started out from the Desert of Sinai. They traveled from place to place. They kept going until the cloud came to rest in the Desert of Paran.
10:13 The first time they started out, the Lord commanded Moses to tell them to do it. And they did it.
10:14 The companies of the camp of Judah went first. They went out under their flag. Nahshon was their commander. He was the son of Amminadab.
10:15 Nethanel was over the company of the tribe of Issachar. Nethanel was the son of Zuar.
10:16 Eliab was over the company of the tribe of Zebulun. Eliab was the son of Helon.
10:17 The holy tent was taken down. The men of Gershon and Merari started out. They carried the tent.
10:18 The companies of the camp of Reuben went next. They went out under their flag. Elizur was their commander. He was the son of Shedeur.
10:19 Shelumiel was over the company of the tribe of Simeon. Shelumiel was the son of Zurishaddai.
10:20 Eliasaph was over the company of the tribe of Gad. Eliasaph was the son of Deuel.
10:21 The men of Kohath started out. They carried the holy things. The holy tent had to be set up before they arrived.
10:22 The companies of the camp of Ephraim went next. They went out under their flag. Elishama was their commander. He was the son of Ammihud.
10:23 Gamaliel was over the company of the tribe of Manasseh. Gamaliel was the son of Pedahzur.
10:24 Abidan was over the company of the tribe of Benjamin. Abidan was the son of Gideoni.
10:25 Finally, the companies of the camp of Dan started out. They marched out under their flag. They followed behind all of the other companies and guarded them. Ahiezer was their commander. He was the son of Ammishaddai.
10:26 Pagiel was over the company of the tribe of Asher. Pagiel was the son of Ocran.
10:27 Ahira was over the company of the tribe of Naphtali. Ahira was the son of Enan.
10:28 As the companies of Israel started out, that was the order they marched in.
10:29 Moses spoke to Hobab, the son of Reuel. Reuel was Moses’ father-in-law. Reuel was from Midian. Moses said to Hobab, “We’re starting out for the place the Lord promised to us. He said to us, ‘I will give it to you.’ So come with us. We’ll treat you well. The Lord has promised to give good things to Israel.”
10:30 Hobab answered, “No. I can’t go. I’m going back to my own land. I’m returning to my own people.”
10:31 But Moses said, “Please don’t leave us. You know where we should camp in the desert. You can be our guide.
10:32 So come with us. The Lord will give us good things. We’ll share them with you.”
10:33 So they started out from the mountain of the Lord. They traveled for three days. The ark of the covenant of the Lord went in front of them during those three days. It went ahead of them to find a place for them to rest.
10:34 They started out from the camp by day. And the cloud of the Lord was above them.

Gospel — Luke 10:1-24
LEB translation
Luke 10:1-24
10:1 The Seventy-Two Appointed and Sent Out
And after these things, the Lord also appointed seventy-two others and sent them out two by two before him into every town and place where he was about to go.
10:2 And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest that he send out workers into his harvest.
10:3 Go! Behold, I am sending you out like lambs in the midst of wolves!
10:4 Do not carry a money bag or a traveler’s bag or sandals, and greet no one along the road.
10:5 And into whatever house you enter, first say, “Peace be to this household!”
10:6 And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on him. But if not, it will return to you.
10:7 And remain in the same house, eating and drinking whatever they provide, for the worker is worthy of his pay. Do not move from house to house.
10:8 And into whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat whatever is set before you,
10:9 and heal the sick in it, and say to them, “The kingdom of God has come near to you.”
10:10 But into whatever town you enter and they do not welcome you, go out into its streets and say,
10:11 “Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you! Nevertheless know this: that the kingdom of God has come near!”
10:12 I tell you that it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town!
10:13 Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes!
10:14 But it will be more bearable for Tyre and for Sidon in the judgment than for you!
10:15 And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No! You will be brought down to Hades!
10:16 The one who listens to you listens to me, and the one who rejects you rejects me. But the one who rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”
10:17 And the seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!”
10:18 So he said to them, “I saw Satan falling like lightning from heaven.
10:19 Behold, I have given you the authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will ever harm you.
10:20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are inscribed in heaven.”
10:21 Jesus Rejoices and Prays
At that same time he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to young children. Yes, Father, for this was pleasing before you.
10:22 All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wants to reveal him.”
10:23 And turning to the disciples, he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see the things which you see!
10:24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which you see, and did not see them, and to hear the things which you hear, and did not hear them.”

Luke 10:1-24
10:1 Jesus Sends Out the Seventy-two
After this the Lord appointed 72 others. He sent them out two by two ahead of him. They went to every town and place where he was about to go.
10:2 He told them, “The harvest is huge, but the workers are few. So ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest field.
10:3 “Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.
10:4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals. And don’t greet anyone on the road.
10:5 “When you enter a house, first say, ‘May this house be blessed with peace.’
10:6 If someone there loves peace, your blessing of peace will rest on him. If not, it will return to you.
10:7 Stay in that house. Eat and drink anything they give you. Workers are worthy of their pay. Do not move around from house to house.
10:8 “When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is set down in front of you.
10:9 Heal the sick people who are there. Tell them, ‘God’s kingdom is near you.’
10:10 “But what if you enter a town and are not welcomed? Then go into its streets and say,
10:11 ‘We wipe off even the dust of your town that sticks to our feet. We do it to show that God isn’t pleased with you. But here is what you can be sure of. God’s kingdom is near.’
10:12 “I tell you this. On judgment day it will be easier for Sodom than for that town.
10:13 “How terrible it will be for you, Korazin! How terrible for you, Bethsaida! Suppose the miracles done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon. They would have turned away from their sins long ago. They would have put on black clothes. They would have sat down in ashes.
10:14 On judgment day it will be easier for Tyre and Sidon than for you.
10:15 “And what about you, Capernaum? Will you be lifted up to heaven? No! You will go down to the place of the dead.
10:16 “Anyone who listens to you listens to me. Anyone who does not accept you does not accept me. And anyone who does not accept me does not accept the One who sent me.”
10:17 The 72 returned with joy. They said, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we speak in your name.”
10:18 Jesus replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
10:19 I have given you authority to walk all over snakes and scorpions. You will be able to destroy all the power of the enemy. Nothing will harm you.
10:20 But do not be glad when the evil spirits obey you. Instead, be glad that your names are written in heaven.”
10:21 At that time Jesus was full of joy through the Holy Spirit. He said, “I praise you, Father. You are Lord of heaven and earth. You have hidden these things from the wise and educated. But you have shown them to little children. Yes, Father. This is what you wanted.
10:22 “My Father has given all things to me. The Father is the only one who knows who the Son is. And the only ones who know the Father are the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to make the Father known.”
10:23 Then Jesus turned to his disciples. He said to them in private, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.
10:24 I tell you, many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see. But they didn’t see it. They wanted to hear what you hear. But they didn’t hear it.”
