10:16 The Problem of the Uneaten Sin Offering
Then Moses sought all over for the goat of the sin offering and behold, it was burned up. So he was angry with Aaron’s remaining sons Eleazar and Ithamar, saying,
10:17 “Why did you not eat the sin offering on the sanctuary’s site, because it is a most holy thing? And he gave it to you to remove the community’s guilt, to make atonement for them before Yahweh.
10:18 Look, its blood was not brought inside the sanctuary. Certainly you should have eaten it in the sanctuary, as I commanded.”
10:19 So Aaron said to Moses, “Look, today they presented their sin offering and their burnt offering before Yahweh, and things such as these have happened to me, and if I were to eat a sin offering today, would it have been good in Yahweh’s eyes?”
10:20 When Moses heard, it was good in his eyes.

Leviticus 10:16 - 10:20
10:16 Moses asked about the goat that was brought as the sin offering. He found out that it had been burned up. So he became angry with Eleazar and Ithamar. They were Aaron’s two remaining sons.
Moses asked them,
10:17 “Why didn’t you eat the sin offering in a place that is near the Holy Room? The offering is very holy. It was given to you to take the people’s guilt away. It paid for their sin in the sight of the Lord.
10:18 The blood of the offering wasn’t taken into the Holy Room. So you should have eaten the goat in a place that is near the Holy Room. That’s what I commanded.”
10:19 Aaron replied to Moses, “Today the people sacrificed their sin offering to the Lord. They also sacrificed their burnt offerings to him. But a terrible thing has happened to me. Two of my sons have died. Would the Lord have been pleased if I had eaten the sin offering today?”
10:20 When Moses heard that, he was satisfied.

13:1 The Parable of the Sower
On that day Jesus went out of the house and was sitting by the sea.
13:2 And large crowds gathered close around him, so that he got into a boat to sit down, and all the crowd was standing on the shore.
13:3 And he spoke many things to them in parables, saying, “Behold, the sower went out to sow,
13:4 and while he was sowing, some seed fell on the side of the path, and the birds came and devoured it.
13:5 And other seed fell on the rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and it sprang up at once because it did not have any depth of soil.
13:6 But when the sun rose it was scorched, and because it did not have enough root, it withered.
13:7 And other seed fell among the thorn plants, and the thorn plants came up and choked it.
13:8 But other seed fell on the good soil and produced grain, this one a hundred times as much and this one sixty and this one thirty.
13:9 The one who has ears, let him hear!”
13:10 The Reason for the Parables
And the disciples came up and said to him, “Why do you speak to them in parables?”
13:11 And he answered and said to them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to those people it has not been granted.
13:12 For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have an abundance. But whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.
13:13 For this reason I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand,
13:14 and with reference to them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says,
“You will listen carefully and will never understand,
and you will look closely and will never perceive.
13:15 For the heart of this people has become dull,
and with their ears they hear with difficulty,
and they have shut their eyes,
so that they would not see with their eyes
and hear with their ears
and understand with their heart
and turn, and I would heal them.”
13:16 But your eyes are blessed because they see, and your ears because they hear.
13:17 For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it!
13:18 The Parable of the Sower Interpreted
“You, therefore, listen to the parable of the sower:
13:19 When anyone hears the word about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is what was sown on the side of the path.
13:20 And what was sown on the rocky ground—this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy.
13:21 But he does not have a root in himself, but lasts only a little while, and when affliction or persecution happens because of the word, immediately he falls away.
13:22 And what was sown into the thorn plants—this is the one who hears the word, and the anxiety of this world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word and it becomes unproductive.
13:23 But what was sown on the good soil—this is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces, this one a hundred times as much, and this one sixty, and this one thirty.”

13:1 The Story of the Farmer
That same day Jesus left the house and sat by the Sea of Galilee.
13:2 Large crowds gathered around him. So he got into a boat. He sat down in it. All the people stood on the shore.
13:3 Then he told them many things by using stories.
He said, “A farmer went out to plant his seed.
13:4 He scattered the seed on the ground. Some fell on a path. Birds came and ate it up.
13:5 Some seed fell on rocky places, where there wasn’t much soil. The plants came up quickly, because the soil wasn’t deep.
13:6 When the sun came up, it burned the plants. They dried up because they had no roots.
13:7 Other seed fell among thorns. The thorns grew up and crowded out the plants.
13:8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It produced a crop 100, 60 or 30 times more than what was planted.
13:9 Those who have ears should listen.”
13:10 The disciples came to him. They asked, “Why do you use stories when you speak to the people?”
13:11 He replied, “You have been given the chance to understand the secrets of the kingdom of heaven. It has not been given to outsiders.
13:12 Everyone who has that kind of knowledge will be given more. In fact, they will have very much. If anyone doesn’t have that kind of knowledge, even what little he has will be taken away from him.
13:13 Here is why I use stories when I speak to the people. I say,
“They look, but they don’t really see.
They listen, but they don’t really hear or understand.
13:14 “In them the words of the prophet Isaiah come true. He said,
“‘You will hear but never understand.
You will see but never know what you are seeing.
13:15 The hearts of these people have become stubborn.
They can barely hear with their ears.
They have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes.
They might hear with their ears.
They might understand with their hearts.
They might turn to the Lord, and then he would heal them.’ ()
13:16 “But blessed are your eyes because they see. And blessed are your ears because they hear.
13:17 What I’m about to tell you is true. Many prophets and godly people wanted to see what you see. But they didn’t see it. They wanted to hear what you hear. But they didn’t hear it.
13:18 “Listen! Here is the meaning of the story of the farmer.
13:19 People hear the message about the kingdom but do not understand it. Then the evil one comes. He steals what was planted in their hearts. Those people are like the seed planted on a path.
13:20 Others received the seed that fell on rocky places. They are those who hear the message and at once receive it with joy.
13:21 But they have no roots. So they last only a short time. They quickly fall away from the faith when trouble or suffering comes because of the message.
13:22 Others received the seed that fell among the thorns. They are those who hear the message. But then the worries of this life and the false promises of wealth crowd it out. They keep it from producing fruit.
13:23 But still others received the seed that fell on good soil. They are those who hear the message and understand it. They produce a crop 100, 60 or 30 times more than the farmer planted.”
