Genesis 21:22 - 21:34
21:22 The Covenant Between Abraham and Abimelech
And it happened that at that time, Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, said to Abraham, “God is with you, in all that you do.
21:23 So now, swear to me here by God that you will not deal with me falsely, or with my descendants, or my posterity. According to the kindness that I have done to you, you shall pledge to do with me and with the land where you have dwelled as an alien.”
21:24 And Abraham said, “I swear.”
21:25 Then Abraham complained to Abimelech on account of the well of water that servants of Abimelech had seized.
21:26 And Abimelech said, “I do not know who did this thing, neither did you tell me, nor have I heard of it except for today.”
21:27 And Abraham took sheep and cattle and gave them to Abimelech. And the two of them made a covenant.
21:28 Then Abraham set off seven ewe-lambs of the flock by themselves.
21:29 And Abimelech said to Abraham, “What is the meaning of these seven ewe-lambs that you have set off by themselves?”
21:30 And he said, “You shall take the seven ewe-lambs from my hand as proof on my behalf that I dug this well.”
21:31 Therefore that place is called Beersheba, because there the two of them swore an oath.
21:32 And they made a covenant at Beersheba. And Abimelech, and Phicol his army commander stood and returned to the land of the Philistines.
21:33 And he planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there he called on the name of Yahweh, the everlasting God.
21:34 And Abraham dwelled as an alien in the land of the Philistines many days.

Genesis 21:22 - 21:34
21:22 The Peace Treaty at Beersheba
At that time Abimelech and Phicol spoke to Abraham. Phicol was the commander of Abimelech’s army. They said, “God is with you in everything you do.
21:23 Now make a promise to me here while God is watching. Take an oath that you will treat me fairly. Promise that you will treat my children and their children the same way.
“I’ve been kind to you. Now you be kind to me. And be kind to the country where you are living as an outsider.”
21:24 Abraham said, “I promise with an oath that I’ll do it.”
21:25 Then Abraham objected to Abimelech about what Abimelech’s servants had done. They had taken over a well of water.
21:26 But Abimelech said, “I don’t know who has done this. You didn’t tell me. Today is the first time I heard about it.”
21:27 So Abraham gave Abimelech sheep and cattle. The two men made a peace treaty.
21:28 Then Abraham took out seven female lambs from his flock.
21:29 Abimelech asked Abraham, “What’s the meaning of these seven female lambs? Why have you taken them out and put them by themselves?”
21:30 Abraham replied, “Accept the seven lambs from me. They will be a witness that I dug this well.”
21:31 That place was named Beersheba. That’s because there the two men made a promise with an oath.
21:32 After the peace treaty had been made at Beersheba, Abimelech went back to the land of the Philistines. His army commander Phicol went with him.
21:33 Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba. There he worshiped the Lord, the God who lives forever.
21:34 Abraham stayed in the land of the Philistines for a long time.

Gospel — John 7:1 - 7:10
LEB translation
John 7:1 - 7:10
7:1 Jesus’ Brothers Do Not Believe in Him
And after these things Jesus was going about in Galilee. For he did not want to go about in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill him.
7:2 Now the feast of the Jews—the feast of Tabernacles—was near.
7:3 So his brothers said to him, “Depart from here and go to Judea, so that your disciples also can see your works that you are doing.
7:4 For no one does anything in secret and yet he himself desires to be publicly recognized. If you are doing these things, reveal yourself to the world!”
7:5 (For not even his brothers believed in him.)
7:6 Jesus at the Feast of Tabernacles
So Jesus said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.
7:7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates me, because I am testifying about it, that its deeds are evil.
7:8 You go up to the feast. I am not going up to this feast, because my time is not yet completed.
7:9 And when he had said these things, he remained in Galilee.
7:10 But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not openly, but (as it were) in secret.

John 7:1 - 7:10
7:1 Jesus Goes to the Feast of Booths
After this, Jesus went around in Galilee. He stayed away from Judea on purpose. He knew that the Jews there were waiting to kill him.
7:2 The Jewish Feast of Booths was near.
7:3 Jesus’ brothers said to him, “You should leave here and go to Judea. Then your disciples will see the kinds of things you do.
7:4 No one who wants to be well known does things in secret. Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.”
7:5 Even Jesus’ own brothers did not believe in him.
7:6 So Jesus told them, “The right time has not yet come for me. For you, any time is right.
7:7 The people of the world can’t hate you. But they hate me. This is because I give witness that what they do is evil.
7:8 “You go to the Feast. I am not yet going up to this Feast. For me, the right time has not yet come.”
7:9 After he said this, he stayed in Galilee.
7:10 When his brothers had left for the Feast, he went also. But he went secretly, not openly.
