Passages

Torah — Genesis 48:10 - 48:16

LEB translation

48:10 Now the eyes of Israel were dim on account of old age; he was not able to see. So he brought them near to him, and he kissed them and embraced them.
48:11 And Israel said to Joseph, “I did not expect to see your face and behold, God has also shown me your offspring.”
48:12 Then Joseph removed them from his knees and bowed down with his face to the ground.
48:13 And Joseph took the two of them, Ephraim at his right to the left of Israel, and Manasseh at his left to the right of Israel. And he brought them near to him.
48:14 And Israel stretched out his right hand and put it on the head of Ephraim (now he was the younger), and his left hand on the head of Manasseh, crossing his hands, for Manasseh was the firstborn.
48:15 And he blessed Joseph and said, “The God before whom my fathers, Abraham and Isaac, walked, The God who shepherded me all my life unto this day,
48:16 The angel who redeemed me from all evil, may he bless the boys. And through them let my name be perpetuated, and the name of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac. And let them multiply into many in the midst of the earth.

Gospel — John 20:11 - 18

LEB translation

20:11 But Mary stood outside at the tomb, weeping. Then, while she was weeping, she bent over to look into the tomb,
20:12 and she saw two angels in white, seated one at the head and one at the feet where the body of Jesus had been lying.
20:13 And they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have put him!”
20:14 When she had said these things, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and she did not know that it was Jesus.
20:15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?” She thought that it was the gardener, and said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will take him.”
20:16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned around and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabboni” (which means “Teacher”).
20:17 Jesus said to her, “Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, and my God and your God.’”
20:18 Mary Magdalene came and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord,” and he had said these things to her.
