LEB translation
Genesis 23:17 - 24:9
23:17 So the field of Ephron which was in the Machpelah, which was near Mamre—the field and the cave which was in it, with all the trees that were in the field, which were within all its surrounding boundaries—passed
23:18 to Abraham as a property in the presence of the Hittites, with respect to all who were entering the gate of his city.
23:19 And thus afterward Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah near Mamre; that is Hebron, in the land of Canaan.
23:20 And the field and the cave which was in it passed to Abraham as a burial site from the Hittites.
24:1 Isaac and Rebekah
Now Abraham was old, advanced in age, and Yahweh had blessed Abraham in everything.
24:2 And Abraham said to his servant, the oldest of his house, who had charge of all he had, “Please put your hand under my thigh
24:3 that I may make you swear by Yahweh, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites in whose midst I am dwelling,
24:4 but that you will go to my land and to my family, and take a wife for my son, for Isaac.”
24:5 And the servant said to him, “Perhaps the woman will not be willing to follow me to this land—must I then return your son to the land from whence you came?”
24:6 Abraham said to him, “You must take care that you do not return my son there.
24:7 Yahweh, the God of heaven who took me from the house of my father and from the land of my family, and who spoke to me and swore to me, saying, ‘to your offspring I will give this land,’ he will send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there.
24:8 And if the woman is not willing to follow you, then you shall be released from this oath of mine—only you must not return my son there.”
24:9 Then the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and he swore to him concerning this matter.
NIRV translation
Genesis 23:17 - 24:9
23:17 So Ephron sold his field in Machpelah near Mamre to Abraham. He bought the field and the cave that was in it. He also bought all of the trees that were inside the borders of the field. Everything was sold
23:18 to Abraham as his property. He bought it in front of all of the Hittites who had come to the gate of the city.
23:19 Then Abraham buried the body of his wife Sarah. He buried her in the cave in the field of Machpelah near Mamre in the land of Canaan. Mamre is at Hebron.
23:20 So the field and the cave that was in it were sold to Abraham by the Hittites. The property became a place for his family tomb.
24:1 Abraham’s Servant Finds a Wife for Isaac
By that time Abraham was very old. The Lord had blessed him in every way.
24:2 The best servant in his house was in charge of everything he had.
Abraham said to him, “Put your hand under my thigh.
24:3 The Lord is the God of heaven and the God of earth. I want you to make a promise with an oath in his name.
“I’m living among the people of Canaan. But I want you to promise me that you won’t get a wife for my son from their daughters.
24:4 Instead, promise me that you will go to my country and to my own relatives. Get a wife for my son Isaac from there.”
24:5 The servant asked him, “What if the woman doesn’t want to come back with me to this land? Then should I take your son back to the country you came from?”
24:6 “Make sure you don’t take my son back there,” Abraham said.
24:7 “The Lord, the God of heaven, took me away from my father’s family. He brought me out of my own land. And he made me a promise with an oath. He said, ‘I will give this land to your family after you.’ The Lord will send his angel ahead of you. So you will be able to get a wife for my son from there.
24:8 “The woman may not want to come back with you. If she doesn’t, you will be free from your oath. But don’t take my son back there.”
24:9 So the servant put his hand under Abraham’s thigh. He promised with an oath to do what his master wanted.

Gospel — John 7:31 - 7:36
LEB translation
John 7:31 - 7:36
7:31 But from the crowd many believed in him and were saying, “Whenever the Christ comes, he will not perform more signs than this man has done, will he?”
7:32 The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things about him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers in order to take him into custody .
7:33 Then Jesus said, “Yet a little time I am with you, and I am going to the one who sent me.
7:34 You will seek me and will not find me, and where I am, you cannot come.”
7:35 So the Jews said to one another, “Where is this one going to go, that we will not find him? He is not going to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks, is he?
7:36 What is this saying that he said, ‘You will seek me and will not find me, and where I am, you cannot come’?”
NIRV translation
John 7:31 - 7:36
7:31 Still, many people in the crowd put their faith in him. They said, “How will it be when the Christ comes? Will he do more miraculous signs than this man?”
7:32 The Pharisees heard the crowd whispering things like this about him. Then the chief priests and the Pharisees sent temple guards to arrest him.
7:33 Jesus said, “I am with you for only a short time. Then I will go to the One who sent me.
7:34 You will look for me, but you won’t find me. You can’t come where I am going.”
7:35 The Jews said to one another, “Where does this man plan to go? Does he think we can’t find him? Will he go where our people live scattered among the Greeks? Will he go there to teach the Greeks?
7:36 What did he mean when he said, ‘You will look for me, but you won’t find me’? And, ‘You can’t come where I am going’?”
