Numbers 15:8 - 15:16
15:8 When you prepare a bull as a burnt offering or a sacrifice to fulfill a vow or a fellowship offering for Yahweh,
15:9 you will present with the bull a grain offering of three-tenths of finely milled flour mixed with half a liquid measure of oil,
15:10 and you will present half a liquid measure of wine as a libation, as an offering made by fire, a fragrance of appeasement for Yahweh.
15:11 “‘This is how it should be done for each bull, or for the each ram, or for the small four-footed mammal, or ram-lambs, or goats.
15:12 According to the number that you prepare, so should you do to each according to their number.
15:13 Every native must do these things to present an offering made by fire, a fragrance of appeasement for Yahweh.
15:14 If an alien dwells among you, or whoever is in your midst throughout your generations, and prepares an offering made by fire, a fragrance of appeasement for Yahweh, he should do as you do.
15:15 For the assembly, there will be one decree for you and for the alien who dwells among you; it is an eternal decree for all your generations. You as well as the alien will be before Yahweh.
15:16 There will be one law and one stipulation for you and for the alien dwelling among you.’”
NIRV translation
Numbers 15:8 - 15:16
15:8 “‘Suppose you prepare a young bull as a burnt offering or sacrifice. You prepare it to keep a special promise to the Lord. Or you prepare it to give as a friendship offering.
15:9 Then bring a grain offering with the bull. The grain offering must be 24 cups of fine flour. It must be mixed with two quarts of olive oil.
15:10 Also bring two quarts of wine as a drink offering. It will be an offering that is made with fire. It will give a smell that is pleasant to the Lord.
15:11 “‘Each bull or ram must be prepared in the same way. Each lamb or young goat must also be prepared in that way.
15:12 Do it for each animal. Do it for as many animals as you prepare.
15:13 “‘Everyone in Israel must do those things in that way. He must do them when he brings an offering that is made with fire. Offerings like that give a smell that is pleasant to the Lord.
15:14 “‘Everyone must always do what the law requires. It does not matter whether he is an outsider or someone else who is living among you. He must do exactly as you do when he brings an offering that is made with fire. Offerings like that give a smell that is pleasant to the Lord.
15:15 “‘The community must have the same rules for you and for the outsider who is living among you. That law will last for all time to come. In the sight of the Lord, the law applies to you and the outsider alike.
15:16 The same laws and rules will apply to you and to the outsider who is living among you.’”

Gospel — Luke 13:18-35
LEB translation
Luke 13:18-35
13:18 The Parable of the Mustard Seed
Therefore he said, “What is the kingdom of God like, and to what shall I compare it?
13:19 It is like a mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his own garden, and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the sky nested in its branches.”
13:20 The Parable of the Yeast
And again he said, “To what shall I compare the kingdom of God?
13:21 It is like yeast that a woman took and hid in three measures of wheat flour until the whole batch was leavened.”
13:22 The Narrow Door
And he was going throughout towns and villages, teaching and making his journey toward Jerusalem.
13:23 And someone said to him, “Lord, are there only a few who are saved?” And he said to them,
13:24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able to,
13:25 when once the master of the house has gotten up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, ‘Lord, open the door for us!’ And he will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know where you are from!’
13:26 Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets!’
13:27 And he will reply, saying to you, ‘I do not know where you are from! Go away from me, all you evildoers!’
13:28 In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves thrown outside!
13:29 And they will come from east and west, and from north and south, and will recline at the table in the kingdom of God.
13:30 And behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.”
13:31 The Lament over Jerusalem
At that same hour some Pharisees came up and said to him, “Go out and depart from here, because Herod wants to kill you!”
13:32 And he said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I am expelling demons and performing healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will complete my work.’
13:33 Nevertheless, it is necessary for me to be on the way today and tomorrow and on the next day, because it is not possible for a prophet to perish outside Jerusalem.
13:34 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How many times I wanted to gather your children together the way a hen gathers her own brood under her wings, and you were not willing!
13:35 Behold, your house has been left to you! And I tell you, you will never see me until the time will come when you say, ‘Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
NIRV translation
Luke 13:18-35
13:18 The Stories of the Mustard Seed and the Yeast
Then Jesus asked, “What is God’s kingdom like? What can I compare it to?
13:19 It is like a mustard seed. Someone took the seed and planted it in a garden. It grew and became a tree. The birds sat in its branches.”
13:20 Again he asked, “What can I compare God’s kingdom to?
13:21 It is like yeast that a woman used. She mixed it into a large amount of flour. The yeast worked its way all through the dough.”
13:22 The Narrow Door
Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching the people. He was on his way to Jerusalem.
13:23 Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?”
He said to them,
13:24 “Try very hard to enter through the narrow door. I tell you, many will try to enter and will not be able to.
13:25 The owner of the house will get up and close the door. Then you will stand outside knocking and begging. You will say, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’
“But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you. And I don’t know where you come from.’
13:26 “Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank with you. You taught in our streets.’
13:27 “But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you. And I don’t know where you come from. Get away from me, all you who do evil!’
13:28 “You will sob and grind your teeth when you see those who are in God’s kingdom. You will see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets there. But you yourselves will be thrown out.
13:29 People will come from east and west and north and south. They will take their places at the feast in God’s kingdom.
13:30 Then the last will be first. And the first will be last.”
13:31 Jesus’ Sadness Over Jerusalem
At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus. They said to him, “Leave this place. Go somewhere else. Herod wants to kill you.”
13:32 He replied, “Go and tell that fox, ‘I will drive out demons. I will heal people today and tomorrow. And on the third day I will reach my goal.’
13:33 In any case, I must keep going today and tomorrow and the next day. Certainly no prophet can die outside Jerusalem!
13:34 “Jerusalem! Jerusalem! You kill the prophets and throw stones in order to kill those who are sent to you. Many times I have wanted to gather your people together. I have wanted to be like a hen who gathers her chicks under her wings. But you would not let me!
13:35 “Look, your house is left empty. I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.’” ()
