Deuteronomy 7:12 - 8:10
7:12 “And then because you listen to these regulations and you diligently keep and you do them, then Yahweh your God will maintain his covenant and his loyal love that he swore to your ancestors.
7:13 And he will love you, and he will bless you, and he will multiply you, and he will bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your soil, your grain, your wine, and your olive oil, and newborn calves of your cattle, and the newborn lambs of your flocks in the land that he swore to your ancestors to give you.
7:14 You shall be blessed more than all of the peoples; among you there shall not be sterility and bareness, even among domestic animals.
7:15 And Yahweh will turn away from you all the illness and all the harmful diseases of Egypt that you experienced; he will not lay them on you, but he will lay them on all of those who hate you.
7:16 And you shall devour all of the peoples that Yahweh your God is giving to you; you shall not pity them, and you shall not serve their gods, which will be a snare for you.
7:17 “If you think in your heart, ‘These nations are more numerous than I, so how can I dispossess them?’
7:18 then remember you must not be afraid of them; you must well remember what Yahweh your God did to Pharaoh and to all of Egypt:
7:19 the great trials that your eyes saw and the signs and the wonders and the workings of the strong hand and the outstretched arm by which Yahweh your God brought you out; so Yahweh your God will do to all of the peoples because of whom you are in fear before them.
7:20 And, moreover, Yahweh your God will send the hornets among them until both the survivors and the fugitives are destroyed before you.
7:21 You must not be in dread from the presence of them, because Yahweh your God, who is in your midst, is a great and awesome God.
7:22 And Yahweh your God will clear away these nations from before you little by little; you will not be able to finish them off quickly, lest the wild animals multiply against you.
7:23 But Yahweh your God will give them to you, and he will throw them into great panic until they are destroyed.
7:24 And he will give their kings into your hand, and you shall blot out their names from under the heaven; anyone will not be able to stand against you until you destroy them.
7:25 You shall burn the images of their gods with fire; you shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, and so you take it for yourself, so that you are not ensnared by it, for it is a detestable thing to Yahweh your God.
7:26 And you must not bring a detestable thing into your house, or you will become a thing devoted to destruction like it; you must utterly detest it, and you must utterly abhor it, for it is an object devoted to destruction.
8:1 “All of the commandments that I am commanding you today you must diligently observe, so that you may live and multiply, and you may go and take possession of the land that Yahweh swore to your ancestors.
8:2 And you shall remember all of the way that Yahweh your God led you during these forty years in the desert in order to humble you and to test you to know what is in your heart, whether you would diligently keep his commandments or not.
8:3 And he humbled you and let you go hungry, and then he fed you with that which you did not know nor did your ancestors know, in order to make you know that not by bread alone but by all that goes out of the mouth of Yahweh humankind shall live.
8:4 Your clothing did not wear out on you, and your feet did not swell during these forty years.
8:5 And you should know with your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so Yahweh your God is disciplining you.
8:6 So you must keep the commandments of Yahweh your God by walking in his ways and by fearing him.
8:7 For Yahweh your God is bringing you to a good land with streams of water, springs and underground water, welling up in the valleys and in the hills,
8:8 to a land of wheat and barley and vines and fig trees and pomegranate trees, a land of olive trees, olive oil and honey;
8:9 to a land where you may eat food in it without scarcity; you will not find anything lacking in it, a land where its stones are iron and from its mountains you can mine copper.
8:10 And you will eat, and you will be satisfied, and you will bless Yahweh your God because of the good land that he has given to you.
NIRV translation
Deuteronomy 7:12 - 8:10
7:12 Pay attention to the laws of the Lord your God. Be careful to obey them. Then he will keep his covenant of love with you. That’s what he promised with an oath to your people long ago.
7:13 The Lord will love you and bless you. He’ll increase your numbers. He’ll give you many children. He’ll bless the crops of your land. He’ll give you plenty of grain, olive oil and fresh wine. He’ll bless your herds with many calves. He’ll give your flocks many lambs. He’ll do all of those things for you in the land of Canaan. It’s the land he promised your people long ago that he would give you.
7:14 He will bless you more than any other nation. All of your men and women will have children. All of your livestock will have little ones.
7:15 The Lord will keep you from getting sick. He won’t send on you any of the horrible sicknesses you saw all around you in Egypt. But he’ll send them on everyone who hates you.
7:16 You must destroy all of the nations the Lord your God hands over to you. Don’t feel sorry for them. Don’t serve their gods. If you do, they will be a trap for you.
7:17 You might say to yourselves, “These nations are stronger than we are. How can we drive them out?”
7:18 But don’t be afraid of them.
Be sure to remember what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and all of the Egyptians.
7:19 With your own eyes you saw what the Lord did to them. You saw his miraculous signs and wonders. He reached out his mighty hand and powerful arm. The Lord your God used all of those things to bring you out. He will do the same things to all of the nations you are now afraid of.
7:20 The Lord your God will also send hornets among them. Some of the people who are left alive will hide from you. But even they will die.
7:21 So don’t be terrified by them. The Lord your God is with you. He is a great and wonderful God.
7:22 The Lord your God will drive out those nations to make room for you. But he will do it little by little. You won’t be allowed to get rid of them all at once. If you did, wild animals would multiply all around you.
7:23 But the Lord your God will hand those nations over to you. He will throw them into a panic until they are destroyed.
7:24 He will hand their kings over to you. You will wipe out their names from the earth. No one will be able to stand up against you. You will destroy them.
7:25 Burn the statues of their gods in the fire. Don’t long for the silver and gold that is on those statues. Don’t take it for yourselves. If you do, it will be a trap for you. The Lord your God hates it.
7:26 Don’t bring anything he hates into your house. If you do, you will be completely destroyed along with it. So hate it with all your heart. It is set apart to be destroyed.
8:1 Remember What the Lord Has Done
Make sure you follow every command I’m giving you today. Then you will live. You will increase your numbers. You will enter the land and take it as your own. It’s the land the Lord promised with an oath to your people long ago.
8:2 Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way. He guided you in the desert for these 40 years. He wanted to take your pride away. He wanted to put you to the test and know what was in your hearts. He wanted to see whether you would obey his commands.
8:3 He took your pride away. He let you go hungry. Then he gave you manna to eat. You and your parents had never even known anything about manna before. He tested you to teach you that man doesn’t live only on bread. He also lives on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
8:4 Your clothes didn’t wear out during these 40 years. Your feet didn’t swell.
8:5 Here is what I want you to know in your hearts. The Lord your God trains you, just as parents train their children.
8:6 Obey the commands of the Lord your God. Live as he wants you to live. Have respect for him.
8:7 The Lord your God is bringing you into a good land. It has streams and pools of water. Springs flow in its valleys and hills.
8:8 It has wheat, barley, vines, fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey.
8:9 There is plenty of food in that land. You will have everything you need. Its rocks have iron in them. And you can dig copper out of its hills.
8:10 When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God. Praise him for the good land he has given you.

Gospel — Acts 5:33 - 5:42
LEB translation
Acts 5:33 - 5:42
5:33 Now when they heard this, they were infuriated, and were wanting to execute them.
5:34 But a certain man stood up in the Sanhedrin, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law respected by all the people, and gave orders to put the men outside for a short time.
5:35 And he said to them, “Men and Israelites, take care for yourselves what you are about to do to these men!
5:36 For before these days, Theudas rose up saying he was somebody. A number of men, about four hundred, joined him. He was executed, and all who followed him were dispersed and came to nothing.
5:37 After this man, Judas the Galilean rose up in the days of the census and caused people to follow him in revolt. And that one perished, and all who followed him were scattered.
5:38 And now I tell you, keep away from these men, and leave them alone, because if this plan or this matter is from people, it will be overthrown.
5:39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them, lest you even be found fighting against God.” So they were persuaded by him.
5:40 And they summoned the apostles, beat them, commanded them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and released them.
5:41 So they went out from the presence of the Sanhedrin rejoicing, because they had been considered worthy to be dishonored for the sake of the name.
5:42 Every day, both in the temple courts and from house to house, they did not stop teaching and proclaiming the good news that the Christ was Jesus.
NIRV translation
Acts 5:33 - 5:42
5:33 When the leaders heard this, they became very angry. They wanted to put the apostles to death.
5:34 But a Pharisee named Gamaliel stood up in the Sanhedrin. He was a teacher of the law. He was honored by all the people. He ordered the men to be taken outside for a little while.
5:35 Then he spoke to the Sanhedrin. “Men of Israel,” he said, “think carefully about what you plan to do to these men.
5:36 Some time ago Theudas appeared. He claimed he was really somebody. About 400 people followed him. But he was killed. All his followers were scattered. So they accomplished nothing.
5:37 After this, Judas from Galilee came along. This was in the days when the Romans made a list of all the people. Judas led a gang of men against the Romans. He too was killed. All his followers were scattered.
5:38 So let me give you some advice. Leave these men alone! Let them go! If their plans and actions are only human, they will fail.
5:39 But if their plans come from God, you won’t be able to stop these men. You will only find yourselves fighting against God.”
5:40 His speech won the leaders over. They called the apostles in and had them whipped. The leaders ordered them not to speak in Jesus’ name. Then they let the apostles go.
5:41 The apostles were full of joy as they left the Sanhedrin. They considered it an honor to suffer shame for the name of Jesus.
5:42 Day after day, they kept teaching in the temple courtyards and from house to house. They never stopped telling the good news that Jesus is the Christ.
