Numbers 16:14 - 16:19
16:14 Surely, you have not brought us to a land that flows with milk and honey, and you have not given us the inheritance of fields and a vineyard. Will you gouge out the eyes of these men? We will not come!”
16:15 Then Moses became angry, and he said to Yahweh, “Do not notice their grain offering. I have not offered one donkey from them, and I have not mistreated one of them.”
16:16 And Moses said to Korah, “You and your entire company will be before Yahweh tomorrow, you and they and Aaron.
16:17 Each one take his censer, and put incense on it and you will present it before Yahweh, and each of you bring his censer, two hundred and fifty censers, you and Aaron, each his censer.”
16:18 So each of them took his censer, and they put fire on them, and they placed incense on them; they stood at the doorway of the tent of the assembly of Moses and Aaron.
16:19 And Korah summoned them, the entire community, by the doorway of the tent of assembly, and the glory of Yahweh appeared to all the community.

Numbers 16:14 - 16:19
16:14 “Besides, you haven’t brought us into a land that has plenty of milk and honey. You haven’t given us fields and vineyards of our own. Are you going to poke out the eyes of these men? No! We won’t come!”
16:15 Then Moses became very angry. He said to the Lord, “Don’t accept their offering. I haven’t taken even a donkey from them. In fact, I haven’t done anything wrong to any of them.”
16:16 Moses said to Korah, “You and all of your followers must stand in front of the Lord tomorrow. You must appear there along with Aaron.
16:17 Each man must get his shallow cup. He must put incense in it. There will be a total of 250 incense cups. Each man must bring his cup to the Lord. You and Aaron must also bring your cups.”
16:18 So each man got his cup. He put fire and incense in it. All of the men came with Moses and Aaron. They stood at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
16:19 Korah gathered all of his followers together at the entrance to the tent. They opposed Moses and Aaron.
Then the glory of the Lord appeared to the whole community.

16:1 The Parable of the Dishonest Manager
And he also said to the disciples, “A certain man was rich, who had a manager. And charges were brought to him that this person was squandering his possessions.
16:2 And he summoned him and said to him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give the account of your management, because you can no longer manage.’
16:3 And the manager said to himself, ‘What should I do, because my master is taking away the management from me? I am not strong enough to dig; I am ashamed to beg.
16:4 I know what I should do, so that when I am removed from the management they will welcome me into their homes!’
16:5 And he summoned each one of his own master’s debtors and said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’
16:6 And he said, ‘A hundred measures of olive oil.’ So he said to him, ‘Take your promissory note and sit down quickly and write fifty.’
16:7 Then he said to another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ And he said, ‘A hundred measures of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your promissory note and write eighty.’
16:8 And the master praised the dishonest manager, because he had acted shrewdly. For the sons of this age are shrewder than the sons of light with regard to their own generation.
16:9 And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by means of unrighteous wealth, so that when it runs out they will welcome you into the eternal dwellings.
16:10 “The one who is faithful in very little is also faithful in much, and the one who is dishonest in very little is also dishonest in much.
16:11 If then you have not been faithful with unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?
16:12 And if you have not been faithful with what belongs to another, who will give you your own?
16:13 No domestic slave is able to serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and will despise the other. You are not able to serve God and money.”
16:14 Hypocrisy, Law, and the Kingdom of God
Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they ridiculed him.
16:15 And he said to them, “You are the ones who justify themselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts! For what is considered exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

16:1 The Story of the Clever Manager
Jesus told his disciples another story. He said, “There was a rich man who had a manager. Some said that the manager was wasting what the rich man owned.
16:2 So the rich man told him to come in. He asked him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Tell me exactly how you have handled what I own. You can’t be my manager any longer.’
16:3 “The manager said to himself, ‘What will I do now? My master is taking away my job. I’m not strong enough to dig. And I’m too ashamed to beg.
16:4 I know what I’m going to do. I’ll do something so that when I lose my job here, people will welcome me into their houses.’
16:5 “So he called in each person who owed his master something. He asked the first one, ‘How much do you owe my master?’
16:6 “‘I owe 800 gallons of olive oil,’ he replied.
“The manager told him, ‘Take your bill. Sit down quickly and change it to 400 gallons.’
16:7 “Then he asked the second one, ‘And how much do you owe?’
“‘I owe 1,000 bushels of wheat,’ he replied.
“The manager told him, ‘Take your bill and change it to 800 bushels.’
16:8 “The manager had not been honest. But the master praised him for being clever. The people of this world are clever in dealing with those who are like themselves. They are more clever than God’s people.
16:9 “I tell you, use the riches of this world to help others. In that way, you will make friends for yourselves. Then when your riches are gone, you will be welcomed into your eternal home in heaven.
16:10 “Suppose you can be trusted with very little. Then you can be trusted with a lot. But suppose you are not honest with very little. Then you will not be honest with a lot.
16:11 “Suppose you have not been worthy of trust in handling worldly wealth. Then who will trust you with true riches?
16:12 Suppose you have not been worthy of trust in handling someone else’s property. Then who will give you property of your own?
16:13 “No servant can serve two masters at the same time. He will hate one of them and love the other. Or he will be faithful to one and dislike the other. You can’t serve God and Money at the same time.”
16:14 The Pharisees loved money. They heard all that Jesus said and made fun of him.
16:15 Jesus said to them, “You try to make yourselves look good in the eyes of other people. But God knows your hearts. What is worth a great deal among people is hated by God.
