Numbers 18:21 - 18:32
18:21 “Behold, I have given to the descendants of Levi every tithe in Israel as an inheritance in return for their service, which they are doing, the work of the tent of assembly.
18:22 The Israelites will not come near again to the tent of assembly, or they will bear sin and die.
18:23 The Levites will perform the service of the tent of assembly, and they will bear their guilt, an eternal decree for all your generations. But they will not receive an inheritance in the midst of the Israelites
18:24 because the tithes of the Israelites that are offered to Yahweh as a contribution, I have given to the Levites as an inheritance; therefore I said to them, ‘They will not receive an inheritance in the midst of the Israelites.’”
18:25 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
18:26 “You will speak to the Levites and say to them, ‘When you receive the tithe from the Israelites that I have given to you from them for your inheritance, you will present a contribution from it to Yahweh, a tithe from a tithe.
18:27 Your contribution will be credited to you like the grain from the threshing floor and like the produce from the press.
18:28 So you will present your own contribution to Yahweh from all your tithes that you receive from the Israelites; from it you will give the contribution of Yahweh to Aaron the priest.
18:29 From all your gifts you will present every contribution of Yahweh, from all its fat, the part that is sacred.’
18:30 You will say to them, ‘When you are presenting its fat, the rest will be credited to the Levites like a yield of the threshing floor and like a yield from the press.
18:31 You may eat it anywhere, you and your household, because it is a wage in return for your service in the tent of assembly.
18:32 You will not bear any sin because you have presented its fat; you will not defile the holy objects of the Israelites, or you will die.’”
NIRV translation
Numbers 18:21 - 18:32
18:21 “The people of Israel will give me a tenth of everything they produce. And I will give it to the Levites. They serve at the Tent of Meeting. I will give them the tenth for the work they do there.
18:22 From now on the people of Israel must not go near the Tent of Meeting. If they do, they will be punished for their sin. They will die.
18:23 “The Levites will do the work at the Tent of Meeting. They will be held accountable for sins that are committed against it. That is a law that will last for all time to come. The Levites will not receive any share among the people of Israel.
18:24 Instead, I will give the Levites the tenth as their share. It is the tenth that the people of Israel bring me as an offering. That is why I said the Levites would not have any share of land among the people of Israel.”
18:25 The Lord said to Moses,
18:26 “Speak to the Levites. Say to them, ‘You will receive the tenth from the people of Israel. I will give it to you as your share. When I do, you must give a tenth of that tenth as an offering to the Lord.
18:27 Your offering will be considered as if you gave grain from a threshing floor. It will be considered as juice from a winepress.
18:28 “‘In that way, you also will bring an offering to the Lord. You will bring it from the tenth you receive from the people of Israel. You must give the Lord’s part to the priest Aaron. You must bring it from the tenth you receive.
18:29 You must bring to the Lord a part of everything that is given to you. It must be the best and holiest part.’
18:30 “Say to the Levites, ‘You must bring the best part. Then it will be considered as if you gave grain from a threshing floor. It will be considered as juice from a winepress.
18:31 You and your families can eat the rest of it anywhere. It is your pay for your work at the Tent of Meeting.
18:32 Bring the best part of what you receive. Then you will not be guilty of holding anything back. You will not make the holy offerings of the people of Israel “unclean.” You will not die.’”

Gospel — Luke 18:15-30
LEB translation
Luke 18:15-30
18:15 Little Children Brought to Jesus
Now they were bringing even their babies to him so that he could touch them. But when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
18:16 But Jesus called them to himself, saying, “Allow the children to come to me, and do not forbid them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.
18:17 Truly I say to you, whoever does not welcome the kingdom of God like a young child will never enter into it.”
18:18 A Rich Young Man
And a certain ruler asked him, saying, “Good Teacher, by doing what will I inherit eternal life?”
18:19 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.
18:20 You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’”
18:21 And he said, “All these I have observed from my youth.”
18:22 And when he heard this, Jesus said to him, “You still lack one thing: Sell all that you have, and distribute the proceeds to the poor—and you will have treasure in heaven—and come, follow me.”
18:23 But when he heard these things he became very sad, because he was extremely wealthy.
18:24 And Jesus took notice of him and said, “How difficult it is for those who possess wealth to enter into the kingdom of God!
18:25 For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter into the kingdom of God.
18:26 So those who heard this said, “And who can be saved?”
18:27 But he said, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”
18:28 And Peter said, “Behold, we have left all that is ours and followed you.”
18:29 And he said to them, “Truly I say to you that there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children on account of the kingdom of God,
18:30 who will not receive many times more in this time and in the age to come, eternal life.”
NIRV translation
Luke 18:15-30
18:15 Little Children Are Brought to Jesus
People were also bringing babies to Jesus. They wanted him to touch them. When the disciples saw this, they told the people to stop.
18:16 But Jesus asked the children to come to him. “Let the little children come to me,” he said. “Don’t keep them away. God’s kingdom belongs to people like them.
18:17 What I’m about to tell you is true. Anyone who will not receive God’s kingdom like a little child will never enter it.”
18:18 Jesus and the Rich Ruler
A certain ruler asked Jesus a question. “Good teacher,” he said, “what must I do to receive eternal life?”
18:19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good except God.
18:20 You know what the commandments say. ‘Do not commit adultery. Do not commit murder. Do not steal. Do not give false witness. Honor your father and mother.’” (; )
18:21 “I have obeyed all those commandments since I was a boy,” the ruler said.
18:22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You are still missing one thing. Sell everything you have. Give the money to those who are poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me.”
18:23 When the ruler heard this, he became very sad. He was very rich.
18:24 Jesus looked at him. Then he said, “How hard it is for rich people to enter God’s kingdom!
18:25 Is it hard for a camel to go through the eye of a needle? It is even harder for the rich to enter God’s kingdom!”
18:26 Those who heard this asked, “Then who can be saved?”
18:27 Jesus replied, “Things that are impossible with people are possible with God.”
18:28 Peter said to him, “We have left everything we had in order to follow you!”
18:29 “What I’m about to tell you is true,” Jesus said to them. “Has anyone left home or family for God’s kingdom?
18:30 They will receive many times as much in this world. In the world to come they will live forever.”
