20:8 And you shall keep my statutes, and you shall do them; I am Yahweh who consecrates you.
20:9 Family and Sexual Offenses
“‘If there is anyone who curses his father or his mother, he shall surely be put to death; he has cursed his father and his mother—his blood is upon him.
20:10 “‘As for a man who commits adultery with a man’s wife, who commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, both the man who commits adultery and the woman who commits adultery shall surely be put to death.
20:11 As for a man who lies with his father’s wife, he has exposed his father’s nakedness; both of them shall be put to death—their blood is on them.
20:12 As for a man who lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall be put to death; they have committed a perversion—their blood is on them.
20:13 “‘As for the man who lies with a male as lying with a woman, they have committed a detestable thing; they shall surely be put to death—their blood is on them.
20:14 “‘As for a man who marries a woman and her mother, that is depravity; they shall burn him and them, so that it shall not become depravity in the midst of you all.
20:15 “‘As for a man who has sexual relations with an animal, he shall surely be put to death, and you must kill the animal.
20:16 As for a woman who approaches any animal to copulate with it, you shall kill the woman and the animal; they shall surely be put to death—their blood is on them.
20:17 “‘As for a man who takes his sister, his father’s daughter or his mother’s daughter, and he sees her nakedness and she herself sees his nakedness, it is a disgrace, and they shall be cut off before the eyes of their people; he has exposed his sister’s nakedness—he must bear his guilt.
20:18 As for a man who lies with a menstruating woman, he exposes her nakedness—her source he exposes and she herself reveals her blood’s source—both of them shall be cut off from the midst of their people.
20:19 And you shall not expose the nakedness of your mother’s sister, and you shall not expose your father’s sister, because such a person has dishonored his close relative—they must bear their guilt.
20:20 As for a man who lies with his aunt, he has exposed his uncle’s nakedness—they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless.
20:21 As for a man who marries his brother’s wife, it is an abomination; he has exposed his brother’s nakedness—they shall be childless.
20:22 You Shall Be Holy
“‘And you shall keep all my statutes and all my regulations, and you shall do them, so that the land, to which I am bringing you to inhabit it, shall not vomit you out.
20:23 And you shall not follow the statutes of the nation that I am driving out from before you, because they did all these things, and I detested them.
20:24 So I said to you, “You yourselves shall take possession of their land, and I myself shall give it to you to possess it—a land flowing with milk and honey”; I am Yahweh your God, who has set you apart from the nations.
20:25 And you shall distinguish between the clean and the unclean animal and between the unclean and the clean bird; and you shall not defile yourselves with the animal or with the bird or with anything that moves along the ground that I have set apart for you as unclean.
20:26 And you shall be holy for me, because I, Yahweh, am holy, and I have singled you out from the nations to be mine.
20:27 “‘And a man or a woman, if a spirit of the dead or a spirit of divination is in them, they shall surely be put to death; they shall stone them with stones—their blood is on them.’”

Gospel — Matthew 24:1-31
LEB translation
24:1 The Destruction of the Temple Predicted
And as Jesus went out of the temple courts he was going along, and his disciples came up to point out to him the buildings of the temple.
24:2 But he answered and said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone will be left here on another stone that will not be thrown down!”
24:3 Signs of the End of the Age
And as he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came up to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
24:4 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Watch out that no one deceives you!
24:5 For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will deceive many.
24:6 And you are going to hear about wars and rumors of wars. See to it that you are not alarmed, for this must happen, but the end is not yet.
24:7 For nation will rise up against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
24:8 But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.
24:9 Persecution of Disciples Predicted
“Then they will hand you over to persecution and will kill you, and you will be hated by all the nations because of my name.
24:10 And then many will be led into sin and will betray one another and will hate one another,
24:11 and many false prophets will appear and will deceive many,
24:12 and because lawlessness will increase, the love of many will grow cold.
24:13 But the one who endures to the end—this person will be saved.
24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed in the whole inhabited earth for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.
24:15 The Abomination of Desolation
“So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken about by the prophet Daniel standing in the holy place” (let the one who reads understand),
24:16 “then those in Judea must flee to the mountains!
24:17 The one who is on his housetop must not come down to take things out of his house,
24:18 and the one who is in the field must not turn back to pick up his cloak.
24:19 And woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing their babies in those days!
24:20 But pray that your flight may not happen in winter or on a Sabbath.
24:21 For at that time there will be great tribulation, such as has not happened from the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will happen.
24:22 And unless those days had been shortened, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, those days will be shortened.
24:23 “At that time if anyone should say to you, ‘Behold, here is the Christ,’ or ‘Here he is,’ do not believe him!
24:24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear, and will produce great signs and wonders in order to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
24:25 Behold, I have told you ahead of time!
24:26 Therefore if they say to you, ‘Behold, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out, or ‘Behold, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it!
24:27 For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so the coming of the Son of Man will be.
24:28 Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.
24:29 The Arrival of the Son of Man
“And immediately after the tribulation of those days,
‘the sun will be darkened
and the moon will not give its light,
and the stars will fall from heaven,
and the powers of heaven will be shaken.’
24:30 And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man arriving on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
24:31 And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect together from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other end of it.
