Genesis 28:5 - 28:9

28:5 Then Isaac sent Jacob away, and he went to Paddan-Aram, to Laban the son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.

28:6 Now Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Paddan-Aram, to take for himself a wife from there, and he blessed him and instructed him, saying, “You must not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan,”

28:7 and that Jacob listened to his father and to his mother and went to Paddan-Aram.

28:8 Then Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan were evil in the eyes of Isaac his father,

28:9 then Esau went to Ishmael and took Mahalath, the daughter of Ishmael, son of Abraham, sister of Nebaioth, as a wife, in addition to the wives he had.

John 10:1 - 10:10

10:1 Jesus as the Good Shepherd “Truly, truly I say to you, the one who does not enter through the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up at some other place—that one is a thief and a robber.

10:2 But the one who enters through the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

10:3 For this one the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

10:4 Whenever he sends out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.

10:5 And they will never follow a stranger, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.”

10:6 Jesus told them this parable, but they did not understand what it was that he was saying to them.

10:7 Then Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.

10:8 All those who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep do not listen to them.

10:9 I am the door. If anyone enters through me, he will be saved, and will come in and will go out and will find pasture.

10:10 The thief comes only so that he can steal and kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

John 10:1 - 10:10

10:1 The Shepherd and the Flock “What I’m about to tell you is true. What if someone does not enter the sheep pen through the gate but climbs in another way? That person is a thief and a robber.

10:2 The one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.

10:3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him. The sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

10:4 When he has brought all of his own sheep out, he goes on ahead of them. His sheep follow him because they know his voice.

10:5 But they will never follow a stranger. In fact, they will run away from him. They don’t recognize a stranger’s voice.”

10:6 Jesus used this story. But the Jews who were there didn’t understand what he was telling them.

10:7 So Jesus said again, “What I’m about to tell you is true. I am like a gate for the sheep.

10:8 All those who ever came before me were thieves and robbers. But the sheep did not listen to them.

10:9 I’m like a gate. Anyone who enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out. And he will find plenty of food.

10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so they can have life. I want them to have it in the fullest possible way.
