Exodus 33:17 - 33:23

33:17 And Yahweh said to Moses, “Also I will do this thing that you have spoken, because you have found favor in my eyes and I have known you by name.”

33:18 And he said, “Please show me your glory.”

33:19 And he said, “I myself will cause all my goodness to pass over before you, and I will proclaim the name of Yahweh before you, and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will show compassion to whom I will show compassion.”

33:20 But he said, “You are not able to see my face, because a human will not see me and live.”

33:21 And Yahweh said, “There is a place with me, and you will stand on the rock.

33:22 And when my glory passes over, I will put you in the rock’s crevice, and I will cover you with my hand until I pass over.

33:23 And I will remove my hand, and you will see my back, but my face will not be visible.”

33:18 וַיֹּאמַ֑ר vai.yo.Mar and/ he said הַרְאֵ֥נִי har.'E.ni show/ me נָ֖א na' please אֶת־ 'et- <obj.> כְּבֹדֶֽךָ׃ ke.vo.De.kha glory/ your

33:20 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר vai.Yo.mer and/ he said לֹ֥א lo' not תוּכַ֖ל tu.Khal you will be able לִרְאֹ֣ת lir.'Ot to/ see אֶת־ 'et- <obj.> פָּנָ֑י pa.Nai face/ my כִּ֛י ki for לֹֽא־ lo'- not יִרְאַ֥נִי yir.'A.ni he will see/ me הָאָדָ֖ם ha.'a.Dam <the>/ person וָחָֽי׃ va.Chai and/ he will live

33:21 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר vai.Yo.mer and/ he said יְהוָ֔ה Yah.weh Yahweh הִנֵּ֥ה hi.Neh there! מָק֖וֹם ma.Kom a place אִתִּ֑י 'i.Ti [is] with/ me וְנִצַּבְתָּ֖ ve.ni.tzav.Ta and/ you will stand עַל־ 'al- on הַצּֽוּר׃ ha.Tzur the/ rock

33:22 וְהָיָה֙ ve.ha.Yah and/ it will be בַּעֲבֹ֣ר ba.'a.Vor when/ passes by כְּבֹדִ֔י ke.vo.Di glory/ my וְשַׂמְתִּ֖יךָ ve.sam.Ti.kha and/ I will put/ you בְּנִקְרַ֣ת be.nik.Rat in/ [the] cleft of הַצּ֑וּר ha.Tzur the/ rock וְשַׂכֹּתִ֥י ve.sa.ko.Ti and/ I will hold כַפִּ֛י kha.Pi palm/ my עָלֶ֖יךָ 'a.Lei.kha over/ you עַד־ 'ad- until עָבְרִֽי׃ 'a.ve.Ri have passed by/ I

33:23 וַהֲסִרֹתִי֙ va.ha.si.ro.Ti and/ I will remove אֶת־ 'et- <obj.> כַּפִּ֔י ka.Pi palm/ my וְרָאִ֖יתָ ve.ra.'I.ta and/ you will see אֶת־ 'et- <obj.> אֲחֹרָ֑י 'a.cho.Rai back parts/ my וּפָנַ֖י u.fa.Nai and/ face/ my לֹ֥א lo' not יֵרָאֽוּ׃ ס ye.ra.'U they will be visible

14:12 Jesus’ Final Passover with the Disciples And on the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, his disciples said to him, “Where do you want us to go and prepare, so that you can eat the Passover?”

14:13 And he sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the city and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him,

14:14 and wherever he enters, say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says, “Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’

14:15 And he will show you a large upstairs room furnished and ready, and prepare for us there.”

14:16 And the disciples went out and came into the city and found everything just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

14:17 And when it was evening, he arrived with the twelve.

14:18 And while they were reclining at table and eating, Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, that one of you who is eating with me will betray me.”

14:19 They began to be distressed and to say to him one by one, “Surely not I?”

14:20 But he said to them, “It is one of the twelve—the one who is dipping bread into the bowl with me.

14:21 For the Son of Man is going just as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for him if that man had not been born.”

14:22 The Lord’s Supper And while they were eating, he took bread and, after giving thanks, he broke it and gave it to them and said, “Take it, this is my body.”

14:23 And after taking the cup and giving thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it.

14:24 And he said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant which is poured out for many.

14:25 Truly I say to you that I will never drink of the fruit of the vine any longer until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”

14:26 And after they had sung the hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Mark 14:12 - 14:26

14:12 The Lord’s Supper It was the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. That was the time to sacrifice the Passover lamb. Jesus’ disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and prepare for you to eat the Passover meal?”

14:13 So he sent out two of his disciples. He told them, “Go into the city. A man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him.

14:14 He will enter a house. Say to its owner, ‘The Teacher asks, “Where is my guest room? Where can I eat the Passover meal with my disciples?”’

14:15 He will show you a large upstairs room. It will have furniture and will be ready. Prepare for us to eat there.”

14:16 The disciples left and went into the city. They found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover meal.

14:17 When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve.

14:18 While they were at the table eating, Jesus said, “What I’m about to tell you is true. One of you who is eating with me will hand me over to my enemies.”

14:19 The disciples became sad. One by one they said to him, “It’s not I, is it?”

14:20 “It is one of the Twelve,” Jesus replied. “It is the one who dips bread into the bowl with me.

14:21 The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But how terrible it will be for the one who hands over the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

14:22 While they were eating, Jesus took bread. He gave thanks and broke it. He handed it to his disciples and said, “Take it. This is my body.”

14:23 Then he took the cup. He gave thanks and handed it to them. All of them drank from it.

14:24 “This is my blood of the new covenant,” he said to them. “It is poured out for many.

14:25 What I’m about to tell you is true. I won’t drink wine with you again until the day I drink it in God’s kingdom.”

14:26 Then they sang a hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives.

14:12 Καὶ And τῇ on the πρώτῃ first ἡμέρᾳ day τῶν <the> ἀζύμων, of unleavened [bread], ὅτε when τὸ the πάσχα Passover lamb ἔθυον, they were to sacrifice, λέγουσιν say αὐτῷ to Him οἱ the μαθηταὶ disciples αὐτοῦ· of Him; ποῦ Where θέλεις do You desire [that] ἀπελθόντες having gone ἑτοιμάσωμεν we may prepare ἵνα that φάγῃς You may eat τὸ the πάσχα; Passover?

14:13 καὶ And ἀποστέλλει He sends forth δύο two τῶν of the μαθητῶν disciples αὐτοῦ of Him καὶ and λέγει says αὐτοῖς· to them; ὑπάγετε do go εἰς into τὴν the πόλιν, city, καὶ and ἀπαντήσει will meet ὑμῖν you ἄνθρωπος a man κεράμιον a pitcher ὕδατος of water βαστάζων· carrying; ἀκολουθήσατε do follow αὐτῷ. him.

14:14 καὶ And ὅπου wherever ἐὰν maybe εἰσέλθῃ, he shall enter, εἴπατε do say τῷ to the οἰκοδεσπότῃ master of the house ὅτι that ὁ the διδάσκαλος Teacher λέγει· says; ποῦ Where ἐστιν is τὸ the κατάλυμά guest room μου ₊of Mine ὅπου where τὸ the πάσχα Passover μετὰ with τῶν the μαθητῶν disciples μου of Mine φάγω; I may eat?

14:15 καὶ And αὐτὸς he himself ὑμῖν you δείξει will show ἀνάγαιον an upper room μέγα large ἐστρωμένον furnished ἕτοιμον· [and] ready; καὶ ₊And ἐκεῖ there ἑτοιμάσατε do prepare ἡμῖν. for us.

14:16 καὶ And ἐξῆλθον went away οἱ the μαθηταὶ disciples αὐτοῦ ˍof him καὶ and ἦλθον came εἰς into τὴν the πόλιν city καὶ and εὗρον found καθὼς even as εἶπεν He had said αὐτοῖς to them καὶ and ἡτοίμασαν they prepared τὸ the πάσχα.¶ Passover.

14:17 Καὶ And ὀψίας when evening γενομένης having arrived ἔρχεται He comes μετὰ with τῶν the δώδεκα. Twelve.

14:18 καὶ And ἀνακειμένων when were reclining αὐτῶν they καὶ and ἐσθιόντων were eating ὁ <the> Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἶπεν· said: ἀμὴν Amen λέγω I say ὑμῖν to you ὅτι that εἷς one ἐξ of ὑμῶν you παραδώσει will betray με, Me, ὁ who ἐσθίων is eating μετ᾽ with ἐμοῦ. Me.
