Leviticus 24:1 - 24:23
24:1 The Sanctuary’s Lamp and Bread
Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
24:2 “Command the Israelites that they should bring pure olive oil from beaten olives for the light to present a lamp continually.
24:3 Aaron shall arrange for it outside the curtain of the testimony in the tent of assembly from evening until morning before Yahweh continually; it shall be a lasting statute throughout your generations.
24:4 On the pure golden lampstand he shall arrange for the lamps before Yahweh continually.
24:5 “And you shall take finely milled flour, and you shall bake with it twelve ring-shaped bread cakes: each one shall be two-tenths of an ephah.
24:6 And you shall place them in two rows, six to the row, on the pure gold table before Yahweh.
24:7 And you shall put pure frankincense on each row so that it shall be for the bread as a memorial offering, an offering made by fire for Yahweh.
24:8 On every Sabbath he shall arrange it in rows before Yahweh continually; they are from the Israelites as an everlasting covenant.
24:9 And it shall be for Aaron and for his sons, and they shall eat it in a holy place, because it is a most holy thing for him from Yahweh’s offerings made by fire—a lasting rule.”
24:10 Punishment for Blasphemy
And an Israelite woman’s son, and he was an Egyptian man’s son, went out in the midst of the Israelites; and the Israelite woman’s son and an Israelite man fought in the camp.
24:11 Then the Israelite woman’s son blasphemed the name, and he cursed, so they brought him to Moses—and the name of his mother was Shelomith the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.
24:12 Then they put him in custody so that the matter might be made clear to them in accordance with the mouth of Yahweh.
24:13 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
24:14 “Bring the curser outside the camp, and all the hearers shall place their hands on his head, and the whole community shall stone him.
24:15 And you shall speak to the Israelites, saying, ‘Any man when he curses his God shall bear his sin.
24:16 And he who blasphemes Yahweh’s name certainly shall be put to death; the whole community certainly shall stone him. As the alien, so the native shall be put to death at blaspheming his name.
24:17 “‘And when a man kills any human being, he certainly shall be put to death.
24:18 And he who kills a domestic animal must repay for it life in place of life.
24:19 And when a man causes a physical defect in his fellow citizen according to what he has done, so it shall be done to him:
24:20 fracture in place of fracture, eye in place of eye, tooth in place of tooth—according to the physical defect he causes to the person, likewise it shall be caused to him.
24:21 And a killer of a domestic animal must repay for it, and a killer of a human shall be put to death.
24:22 You must have one norm; as for the alien, so it must be for the native, because I am Yahweh your God.’”
24:23 Thus Moses spoke to the Israelites, and they brought the curser outside the camp, and they stoned him with stones, and the Israelites did just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.
NIRV translation
Leviticus 24:1 - 24:23
24:1 Olive Oil, Bread and Incense
The Lord spoke to Moses. He said,
24:2 “Command the people of Israel to bring you clear oil that is made from pressed olives. Use it to keep the lamps burning and giving light all the time.
24:3 “Aaron must take care of the lamps in my sight from evening until morning all the time. That is a law that will last for all time to come. The lamps are outside the curtain that is in front of the tablets of the covenant in the Tent of Meeting.
24:4 The lamps are on the pure gold lampstand in front of me. They must be taken care of all the time.
24:5 “Get fine flour and bake 12 loaves of bread. Use 16 cups of flour for each loaf.
24:6 Place them in two rows. Put six loaves in each row on the table that is made out of pure gold. The table stands in front of me.
24:7 “Along each row put some pure incense. It will remind you that all good things come from me. Burn the incense in place of the bread. The incense is an offering that is made to me with fire.
24:8 “The bread must be set out in front of me regularly. Do it every Sabbath day. It will be Israel’s duty to provide it for all time to come.
24:9 “The bread belongs to Aaron and his sons. They must eat it in a holy place. It is a very holy part of their regular share of the offerings that are made to me with fire.”
24:10 A Person Who Speaks Evil Is Put to Death
There was a man who had an Israelite mother. His father was born in Egypt. The man went out among the people of Israel. A fight broke out in the camp between him and an Israelite.
24:11 The son of the Israelite woman spoke evil things against the Lord by using a curse. So the people brought him to Moses. The name of the man’s mother was Shelomith. She was the daughter of Dibri. Dibri was from the tribe of Dan.
24:12 The people kept her son under guard until they could find out what the Lord wanted them to do.
24:13 Then the Lord spoke to Moses. He said,
24:14 “Get the man who spoke evil things against me. Take him outside the camp. All those who heard him say those things must place their hands on his head. Then the whole community must kill him by throwing stones at him.
24:15 “Say to the people of Israel, ‘If anyone calls down a curse on me, he will be held accountable.
24:16 If anyone speaks evil things against my Name, he must be put to death. The whole community must kill him by throwing stones at him. It does not matter whether he is an outsider or an Israelite. When he speaks evil things against my Name, he must be put to death.
24:17 “‘If anyone kills another human being, he must be put to death.
24:18 If anyone kills someone’s animal, he must pay its owner. A life must be taken for a life.
24:19 “‘Suppose someone hurts his neighbor. Then what he has done must be done to him.
24:20 A bone must be broken for a bone. An eye must be put out for an eye. A tooth must be knocked out for a tooth. He must be hurt in the same way he hurt someone else.
24:21 “‘If anyone kills an animal, he must pay its owner. But if he kills a human being, he must be put to death.
24:22 The same law applies whether he is an outsider or an Israelite. I am the Lord your God.’”
24:23 Then Moses spoke to the people of Israel. They got the man who had spoken evil things against the Lord. They took him outside the camp. There they killed him by throwing stones at him. The people of Israel did just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

Gospel — Matthew 26:47-55
LEB translation
Matthew 26:47-55
26:47 The Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus
And while he was still speaking, behold, Judas—one of the twelve—arrived, and with him a large crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
26:48 Now the one who was betraying him had given them a sign, saying, “The one whom I kiss—he is the one. Arrest him!”
26:49 And he came up to Jesus immediately and said, “Greetings, Rabbi,” and kissed him.
26:50 And Jesus said to him, “Friend, do that for which you have come.” Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and arrested him.
26:51 And behold, one of those with Jesus extended his hand and drew his sword, and striking the slave of the high priest, cut off his ear.
26:52 Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place! For all who take up the sword will die by the sword.
26:53 Or do you think that I cannot call upon my Father, and he would put at my disposal at once more than twelve legions of angels?
26:54 How then would the scriptures be fulfilled that it must happen in this way?”
26:55 At that time Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out with swords and clubs, as against a robber, to arrest me? Every day in the temple courts I sat teaching, and you did not arrest me!

Matthew 26:47-55
26:47 Jesus Is Arrested
While Jesus was still speaking, Judas arrived. He was one of the Twelve. A large crowd was with him. They were carrying swords and clubs. The chief priests and the elders of the people had sent them.
26:48 Judas, who was going to hand Jesus over, had arranged a signal with them. “The one I kiss is the man,” he said. “Arrest him.”
26:49 So Judas went to Jesus at once. He said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” And he kissed him.
26:50 Jesus replied, “Friend, do what you came to do.”
Then the men stepped forward. They grabbed Jesus and arrested him.
26:51 At that moment, one of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword. He pulled it out and struck the servant of the high priest with it. He cut off the servant’s ear.
26:52 “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him. “All who use the sword will die by the sword.
26:53 Do you think I can’t ask my Father for help? He would send an army of more than 70,000 angels right away.
26:54 But then how would the Scriptures come true? They say it must happen in this way.”
26:55 At that time Jesus spoke to the crowd. “Am I leading a band of armed men against you?” he asked. “Do you have to come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple courtyard teaching. And you didn’t arrest me.
