1:16 And God made two lights, the greater light to rule the day and the smaller light to rule the night, and the stars.
1:17 And God placed them in the vaulted dome of heaven to give light on the earth

Genesis 7:11
7:11 In the six hundredth year of the life of Noah, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month—on that day all the springs of the great deep were split open, and the windows of heaven were opened.
Genesis 8:13–14
8:13 And it happened that, in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the waters dried up from upon the earth. And Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked. And behold, the face of the ground was dried up.
8:14 And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.
Exodus 28:15–30
28:15 And you will make a breast piece of judgment, a work of a skilled craftsman; you will make it like the work of the ephod; you will make it of gold, blue and purple and crimson yarns, and finely twisted linen.
28:16 It will be squared, doubled, a span its length and a span its width.
28:17 And you will fill it with stone mounting, four rows of stone, a row of carnelian, topaz, and emerald is the first row;
28:18 and the second row is a malachite, a sapphire, and a moonstone;
28:19 and the third row is a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst;
28:20 and the fourth row is a turquoise and an onyx and a jasper. Their settings will be woven with gold.
28:21 The stones will be according to the names of the Israelites, twelve according to their names, with seal engravings, each according to its name they will be for the twelve tribes.
28:22 “And you will make on the breast piece braided chains, a work of pure gold ornamental cord.
28:23 And you will make on the breast piece two gold rings, and you will put the two rings on the two edges of the breast piece.
28:24 And you will put the two gold ornamental cords on the two rings on the edges of the breast piece.
28:25 And you will put the two ends of the two ornamental cords on the two filigree settings, and you will put them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod at the front of it.
28:26 And you will make two gold rings, and you will place them on the two ends of the breast piece, on its edge that is on the other side of the ephod, to the inside.
28:27 And you will make two rings and put them on the two shoulder pieces of the ephod below at its front near its seam above the waistband of the ephod.
28:28 And they will tie the breast piece by its rings to the rings of the ephod with a blue cord to be on the waistband of the ephod, and the breast piece will not come loose from the ephod.
28:29 And Aaron will bear the names of the Israelites in the breast piece of judgment on his heart, when he comes to the sanctuary, for a remembrance before Yahweh continually.
28:30 And you will put the Urim and the Thummim on the breast piece of judgment, and they will be on the heart of Aaron when he comes before Yahweh, and Aaron will bear the judgment of the Israelites on his heart before Yahweh continually.
Leviticus 23:23–25
23:23 The Feast of Trumpets
Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
23:24 “Speak to the Israelites, saying, ‘In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you must have a rest period, a remembrance of the trumpet blast, a holy assembly.
23:25 You must not do any regular work, and you shall present an offering made by fire to Yahweh.’”
Numbers 2:1–34
2:1 The Arrangement of the Camps
Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,
2:2 “The Israelites will encamp each with his standard, with a banner according to their families; they will encamp around the tent of assembly.
2:3 The ones who encamp on the eastern side, toward the sunrise, will be of the standard of the camp of Judah according to their divisions; and the leader of the descendants of Judah will be Nahshon son of Amminadab,
2:4 and his division and the ones counted are seventy-four thousand six hundred.
2:5 And the ones who encamp next to him will be the tribe of Issachar. And the leader of the descendants of Issachar will be Nethanel son of Zuar,
2:6 and his division are fifty-four thousand four hundred.
2:7 For the tribe of Zebulun: the leader of the descendants of Zebulun will be Eliab son of Helon,
2:8 and his division and the ones counted are fifty-seven thousand four hundred.
2:9 All those counted from the camp of Judah are one hundred and eighty-six thousand four hundred. They will set out first according to their divisions.
2:10 “The standard of the camp of Reuben will be to the south according to their divisions. The leader of the descendants will be Elizur son of Shedeur.
2:11 And his division and the ones counted are forty-six thousand five hundred.
2:12 Those encamped next to him will be the tribe of Simeon. The leader of the descendants of Simeon will be Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai.
2:13 And his division and the ones counted are fifty-nine thousand three hundred.
2:14 For the tribe of Gad: the leader of the descendants of Gad will be Eliasaph son of Reuel.

2:19 And his division and the ones counted are forty thousand five hundred.

2:32 These were the ones counted of the Israelites according to their families; all those counted from the camps according to their divisions were six hundred and three thousand five hundred.
2:33 The Levites were not counted in the midst of the Israelites, just as Yahweh commanded Moses.
2:34 And the Israelites did everything that Yahweh commanded Moses. They encamped according to their standards, and they set out each one according to their clans among their families.
Ezra 3:1–6
3:1 Worship in Jerusalem Restored
Now the seventh month drew near and the Israelites were in the cities, so the people gathered as one in Jerusalem.
3:2 And Jeshua son of Jehozadak and his brothers the priests stood up, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and his brothers built the altar of the God of Israel, in order to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the law of Moses, the man of God.
3:3 They set up the altar on its foundations, because they were in terror because of the peoples of the lands. And they offered burnt offerings on it for Yahweh, burnt offerings for the morning and the evening.
3:4 And they kept the feast of booths, as it is written, and offered burnt offerings day by day in number according to the ordinance as described for each day.
3:5 After this, they presented the daily sacrifice of burnt offerings, the offerings for the New Moon Festival, and for all of the appointed times consecrated for Yahweh and for all who gave a freewill offering to Yahweh.
3:6 From the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to Yahweh. But the temple of Yahweh was not yet founded.
Psalm 19:1–14
19:1 Yahweh’s Creation and Law
For the music director. A psalm of David.
The heavens are telling the glory of God,
and the firmament proclaims the work of his hands.
19:2 Every day they pour forth speech,
and every night they tell knowledge.
19:3 There is no speech and there are no words;
their sound is inaudible.
19:4 Yet in all the world their line goes out,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has pitched a tent for the sun,
19:5 and it is like a bridegroom
who comes out of his bridal chamber.
It is glad like a strong man
to run its course.
19:6 Its rising is from one end of the heavens
and its circuit to the other end of them;
and nothing is hidden from its heat.
19:7 The law of Yahweh is perfect, reviving life.
The testimony of Yahweh is firm, making wise the simple.
19:8 The precepts of Yahweh are right, making the heart rejoice.
The command of Yahweh is pure, enlightening the eyes.
19:9 The fear of Yahweh is pure, enduring forever.
The ordinances of Yahweh are true; they are righteous altogether,
19:10 more desirable than gold, even much fine gold;
and sweeter than honey, even honey in the comb.
19:11 Moreover, your servant is warned by them;
in keeping them is great reward.
19:12 Who can perceive his errors?
Acquit me from hidden faults.
19:13 Also, keep back your servant from arrogant sins;
let them not rule over me.

Psalm 47:1–9
47:1 God Is King over All the Earth

All you peoples, clap your hands.
Shout to God with a voice of rejoicing.
47:2 For Yahweh Most High is awesome,
a great king over all the earth.
47:3 He subdues peoples under us
and nations under our feet.
47:4 He chooses for us our inheritance,
the pride of Jacob whom he loves.
47:5 God has gone up with a shout,
Yahweh with the sound of a trumpet.

Genesis 1:14–19
1:14 God said, “Let there be lights in the huge space of the sky. Let them separate the day from the night. Let them serve as signs to mark off the seasons and the days and the years.
1:15 Let them serve as lights in the huge space of the sky to give light on the earth.” And that’s exactly what happened.
1:16 God made two great lights. He made the larger light to rule over the day. He made the smaller light to rule over the night. He also made the stars.
1:17 God put the lights in the huge space of the sky to give light on the earth.
1:18 He put them there to rule over the day and the night. He put them there to separate light from darkness.
God saw that it was good.
1:19 And there was evening, and there was morning. It was day four.
Genesis 7:11
7:11 Noah was 600 years old. It was the 17th day of the second month of the year. On that day all of the springs at the bottom of the oceans burst open. God opened the windows of the skies.
Genesis 8:13–14
8:13 It was the first day of the first month of Noah’s 601st year. The water had dried up from the earth. Then Noah removed the covering from the ark. He saw that the surface of the ground was dry.
8:14 By the 27th day of the second month the earth was completely dry.
Exodus 28:15–30
28:15 The Chest Cloth
“Make a chest cloth that will be used for making decisions. Have a skilled worker make it. Make it like the linen apron. Use fine gold wire, and blue, purple and bright red yarn, and finely twisted linen.
28:16 Make it nine inches square. Fold it in half.
28:17 “Put four rows of valuable jewels on it. Put a ruby, a topaz and a beryl in the first row.
28:18 Put a turquoise, a sapphire and an emerald in the second row.
28:19 Put a jacinth, an agate and an amethyst in the third row.
28:20 And put a chrysolite, an onyx and a jasper in the fourth row. Put them in fancy gold settings.
28:21 “Use a total of 12 stones. Use one for each of the names of the sons of Israel. Each stone must be carved like a seal with the name of one of the 12 tribes.
28:22 “Make braided chains out of pure gold for the chest cloth. Make them like ropes.
28:23 Make two gold rings for the chest cloth. Connect them to two corners of it.
28:24 Join the two gold chains to the rings at the corners of the chest cloth.
28:25 Join the other ends of the chains to the two settings. Join them to the shoulder straps on the front of the linen apron.
28:26 “Make two gold rings. Connect them to the other two corners of the chest cloth. Put them on the inside edge next to the apron.
28:27 Make two more gold rings. Connect them to the bottom of the shoulder straps on the front of the apron. Put them close to the seam. Put them right above the waistband of the apron.
28:28 The rings of the chest cloth must be tied to the rings of the apron. Tie them to the waistband with blue cord. Then the chest cloth will not swing out from the linen apron.
28:29 “When Aaron enters the Holy Room, he will carry the names of the sons of Israel over his heart. Their names will be on the chest cloth of decision. They will be a continuing reminder while he is serving me.
28:30 “Also put the Urim and Thummim into the chest cloth. Then they will be over Aaron’s heart when he comes to serve me. In that way, Aaron will always have what he needs to make decisions for the people of Israel. He will carry the Urim and Thummim over his heart while he is serving me.
Leviticus 23:23–25

2:4 There are 74,600 men in his company.
2:5 The tribe of Issachar will camp next to them. The leader of the tribe of Issachar is Nethanel, the son of Zuar.
2:6 There are 54,400 men in his company.
2:7 The tribe of Zebulun will be next. The leader of the tribe of Zebulun is Eliab, the son of Helon.
2:8 There are 57,400 men in his company.
2:9 So a total of 186,400 men will be set apart for the camp of Judah. They will be arranged company by company. They will start out first.
2:10 The companies of the camp of Reuben will be on the south side. They will be under their flag. The leader of the tribe of Reuben is Elizur, the son of Shedeur.
2:11 There are 46,500 men in his company.
2:12 The tribe of Simeon will camp next to them. The leader of the tribe of Simeon is Shelumiel, the son of Zurishaddai.
2:13 There are 59,300 men in his company.
2:14 The tribe of Gad will be next. The leader of the tribe of Gad is Eliasaph, the son of Deuel.
2:15 There are 45,650 men in his company.
2:16 So a total of 151,450 men will be set apart for the camp of Reuben. They will be arranged company by company. They will start out second.
2:17 Then the camp of the Levites will start out. The Tent of Meeting will go with them. They will march in the middle of the other camps. They will start out in the same order as they do when they set up camp. Each one will be in his own place under his flag.
2:18 The companies of the camp of Ephraim will be on the west side. They will be under their flag. The leader of the tribe of Ephraim is Elishama, the son of Ammihud.
2:19 There are 40,500 men in his company.
2:20 The tribe of Manasseh will be next to them. The leader of the tribe of Manasseh is Gamaliel, the son of Pedahzur.
2:21 There are 32,200 men in his company.
2:22 The tribe of Benjamin will be next. The leader of the tribe of Benjamin is Abidan, the son of Gideoni.
2:23 There are 35,400 men in his company.
2:24 So a total of 108,100 men will be set apart for the camp of Ephraim. They will be arranged company by company. They will start out third.
2:25 The companies of the camp of Dan will be on the north side. They will be under their flag. The leader of the tribe of Dan is Ahiezer, the son of Ammishaddai.
2:26 There are 62,700 men in his company.
2:27 The tribe of Asher will camp next to them. The leader of the tribe of Asher is Pagiel, the son of Ocran.
2:28 There are 41,500 men in his company.
2:29 The tribe of Naphtali will be next. The leader of the tribe of Naphtali is Ahira, the son of Enan.
2:30 There are 53,400 men in his company.
2:31 So a total of 157,600 men will be set apart for the camp of Dan. They will start out last. They will march under their flags.
2:32 Those are the men of Israel. They were counted in keeping with their families. The total number of all of the men who were in the camps is 603,550, company by company.
2:33 But the Levites weren’t counted along with the other men of Israel. That’s what the Lord had commanded Moses.
2:34 So the people of Israel did everything the Lord had commanded Moses. That’s the way they set up camp under their flags. And that’s the way they started out. Each man marched out with his own tribe and family.
Ezra 3:1–6
3:1 The People Rebuild the Altar
The people of Israel had settled down in their towns. In the seventh month all of them gathered together in Jerusalem.
3:2 Then Jeshua began to build the altar for burnt offerings to honor the God of Israel. Jeshua was the son of Jehozadak. The other priests helped Jeshua. So did Zerubbabel and his men. They built the altar in keeping with what is written in the Law of Moses. Moses was a man of God. Zerubbabel was the son of Shealtiel.
3:3 The people who built the altar were afraid of the nations that were around them. But they built it anyway. They set it up where it had stood before. They sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the Lord. They offered the morning and evening sacrifices on it.
3:4 Then they celebrated the Feast of Booths. They did it in keeping with what is written in the Law. They sacrificed the number of burnt offerings that were required for each day.
3:5 After they celebrated the Feast of Booths, they sacrificed the regular burnt offerings. They offered the New Moon sacrifices. They also offered the sacrifices for all of the appointed sacred feasts of the Lord. And they sacrificed the offerings the people chose to give him.
3:6 On the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to the Lord. They did it even though the foundation of the Lord’s temple hadn’t been finished yet.
Psalm 19:1–14
19:1 Psalm 19
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
The heavens tell about the glory of God.
The skies show that his hands created them.
19:2 Day after day they speak about it.
Night after night they make it known.
19:3 But they don’t speak or use words.
No sound is heard from them.
19:4 At the same time, their voice goes out into the whole earth.
Their words go out from one end of the world to the other.
God has set up a tent in the heavens for the sun.
19:5 The sun is like a groom coming out of the room where he spent his wedding night.
The sun is like a great runner who takes delight in running a race.
19:6 It rises at one end of the heavens.
Then it moves across to the other end.
Nothing can hide from its heat.
19:7 The law of the Lord is perfect.
It gives us new strength.
The laws of the Lord can be trusted.
They make childish people wise.
19:8 The rules of the Lord are right.
They give joy to our hearts.
The commands of the Lord shine brightly.
They give light to our minds.
19:9 The law that brings respect for the Lord is pure.
It lasts forever.
The directions the Lord gives are true.
All of them are completely right.
19:10 They are more priceless than gold.
They have greater value than huge amounts of pure gold.

that is taken from the honeycomb.
19:11 I am warned by them.
When I obey them, I am greatly rewarded.
19:12 Can I know my mistakes?

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem,
2:2 saying, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star at its rising and have come to worship him.”
2:3 And when King Herod heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him,
2:4 and after calling together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired from them where the Christ was to be born.
2:5 So they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet,
2:6 ‘And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah,
are by no means least among the rulers of Judah,
for from you will go out a ruler
who will shepherd my people Israel.’”
2:7 Then Herod secretly summoned the wise men and determined precisely from them the time when the star appeared.
2:8 And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go, inquire carefully concerning the child, and when you have found him, report to me so that I also may come and worship him.”
2:9 After they listened to the king, they went out, and behold, the star which they had seen at its rising led them until it came and stood above the place where the child was.
2:10 Now when they saw the star, they rejoiced with very great joy.
2:11 And when they came into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. And opening their treasure boxes, they offered him gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.
2:12 And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they went back to their own country by another route.
Acts 17:22–31
17:22 Paul Speaks to the Areopagus
So Paul stood there in the middle of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I see you are very religious in every respect.
17:23 For as I was passing through and observing carefully your objects of worship, I even found an altar on which was inscribed, ‘To an unknown God.’ Therefore what you worship without knowing it, this I proclaim to you—
17:24 the God who made the world and all the things in it. This one, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by human hands,
17:25 nor is he served by human hands as if he needed anything, because he himself gives to everyone life and breath and everything.
17:26 And he made from one man every nation of humanity to live on all the face of the earth, determining their fixed times and the fixed boundaries of their habitation,
17:27 to search for God, if perhaps indeed they might feel around for him and find him. And indeed he is not far away from each one of us,

17:29 Therefore, because we are offspring of God, we ought not to think the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by human skill and thought.
17:30 Therefore although God has overlooked the times of ignorance, he now commands all people everywhere to repent,
17:31 because he has set a day on which he is going to judge the world in righteousness by the man who he has appointed, having provided proof to everyone by raising him from the dead.”

21:17 And he measured its wall, one hundred forty-four cubits according to human measure, which is the angel’s.
21:18 And the material of its wall is jasper, and the city is pure gold, similar in appearance to pure glass.
21:19 The foundations of the wall of the city are adorned with every kind of precious stone: the first foundation jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald,

2:8 He sent them to Bethlehem. He said, “Go! Make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, bring me a report. Then I can go and worship him too.”
2:9 After the Wise Men had listened to the king, they went on their way. The star they had seen when they were in the east went ahead of them. It finally stopped over the place where the child was.
2:10 When they saw the star, they were filled with joy.
2:11 The Wise Men went to the house. There they saw the child with his mother Mary. They bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures. They gave him gold, incense and myrrh.
2:12 But God warned them in a dream not to go back to Herod. So they returned to their country on a different road.
Acts 17:22–31
17:22 Then Paul stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus. He said, “Men of Athens! I see that you are very religious in every way.
17:23 As I walked around, I looked carefully at the things you worship. I even found an altar with to an unknown god written on it. Now I am going to tell you about this ‘unknown god’ that you worship.
17:24 “He is the God who made the world. He also made everything in it. He is the Lord of heaven and earth. He doesn’t live in temples built by hands.
17:25 He is not served by human hands. He doesn’t need anything. He himself gives life and breath to all people. He also gives them everything else they have.
17:26 From one man he made all the people of the world. Now they live all over the earth. He decided exactly when they should live. And he decided exactly where they should live.
17:27 God did this so that people would seek him. Then perhaps they would reach out for him and find him. They would find him even though he is not far from any of us.
17:28 ‘In him we live and move and exist.’ As some of your own poets have also said, ‘We are his children.’
17:29 “Yes, we are God’s children. So we shouldn’t think that God is made out of gold or silver or stone. He isn’t a statue planned and made by clever people.
17:30 In the past, God didn’t judge people for what they didn’t know. But now he commands all people everywhere to turn away from their sins.
17:31 He has set a day when he will judge the world fairly. He has appointed a man to be its judge. God has proved this to all people by raising that man from the dead.”
Romans 10:16–18
10:16 But not all the people of Israel accepted the good news. Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” ()
10:17 So faith comes from hearing the message. And the message that is heard is the word of Christ.
10:18 But I ask, “Didn’t the people of Israel hear?” Of course they did. It is written,

12:6 The woman escaped into the desert where God had a place prepared for her. There she would be taken care of for 1,260 days.
Revelation 21:9–21
