Genesis 32:31 - 33:5

32:31 Then the sun rose upon him as he passed Penuel, and he was limping because of his hip.

32:32 Therefore the Israelites do not eat the sinew of the sciatic nerve that is upon the socket of the hip unto this day, because he struck the socket of the thigh of Jacob at the sinew of the sciatic nerve.

33:1 Jacob Meets Esau and Settles at Shechem And Jacob lifted up his eyes and looked. And behold, Esau was coming and four hundred men were with him. And he divided the children among Leah and among Rachel, and among the two of his female servants.

33:2 And he put the female slaves and their children first, then Leah and her children next, then Rachel with Joseph last.

33:3 And he himself passed on before them and bowed down to the ground seven times until he came to his brother.

33:4 But Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell upon his neck and kissed him, and they wept.

33:5 Then Esau lifted up his eyes and saw the women and the children and said, “Who are these with you?” And he said, “The children whom God has graciously given your servant.”

John 12:12 - 12:19

12:12 The Triumphal Entry On the next day the large crowd who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

12:13 took the branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, and began crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord, even the king of Israel!”

12:14 So Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written,

12:15 “Do not be afraid, daughter of Zion! Behold, your king is coming, seated on the foal of a donkey!”

12:16 (His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and they did these things to him.)

12:17 So the crowd who was with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead were continuing to testify.

12:18 Because of this also the crowd went to meet him, for they had heard that he had performed this sign.

12:19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are accomplishing nothing! Behold, the world has gone after him.”

12:12 Jesus Enters Jerusalem The next day the large crowd that had come for the Feast heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem.

12:13 So they took branches from palm trees and went out to meet him. They shouted, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!” () “Blessed is the King of Israel!”

12:14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it. This is just as it is written in Scripture. It says,

12:15 “City of Zion, do not be afraid. See, your king is coming. He is sitting on a donkey’s colt.” ()

12:16 At first, Jesus’ disciples did not understand all this. They realized it only after he had received glory. Then they realized that these things had been written about him. They realized that the people had done these things to him.

12:17 A crowd had been with Jesus when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead. So they continued to tell everyone about what had happened.

12:18 Many people went out to meet him. They had heard that he had done this miraculous sign.

12:19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “This isn’t getting us anywhere. Look how the whole world is following him!”

12:12 Τῇ On the ἐπαύριον next day ὁ ₊the ὄχλος crowd πολὺς great ὁ <the> ἐλθὼν having come εἰς to τὴν the ἑορτήν, feast, ἀκούσαντες having heard ὅτι that ἔρχεται is coming ὁ <the> Ἰησοῦς Jesus εἰς into Ἱεροσόλυμα, Jerusalem,

12:13 ἔλαβον took τὰ the βαΐα branches τῶν of the φοινίκων palm trees καὶ and ἐξῆλθον went out εἰς to ὑπάντησιν meet αὐτῷ Him καὶ and ἐκραύγαζον· were shouting: ὡσαννά, Hosanna! εὐλογημένος Blessed [is] ὁ the [One] ἐρχόμενος coming ἐν in ὀνόματι [the] name κυρίου of [the] Lord! καὶ ₊And ὁ the βασιλεὺς King τοῦ <the> Ἰσραήλ.¶ of Israel!

12:14 Εὑρὼν Having found δὲ then ὁ <the> Ἰησοῦς Jesus ὀνάριον a young donkey ἐκάθισεν He sat ἐπ᾽ upon αὐτό, it, καθώς even as ἐστιν it is γεγραμμένον· written:

12:15 μὴ Not φοβοῦ do fear θυγάτηρ daughter Σιών· of Zion; ἰδοὺ Behold ὁ the βασιλεύς King σου of you ἔρχεται comes καθήμενος sitting ἐπὶ on πῶλον a colt ὄνου. of a donkey.

12:16 ταῦτα These things δὲ ˍnow οὐκ not ἔγνωσαν knew αὐτοῦ of Him οἱ the μαθηταὶ disciples τὸ from the πρῶτον, first, ἀλλ᾽ but ὅτε when ἐδοξάσθη was glorified ὁ ˍ<the> Ἰησοῦς, Jesus, τότε then ἐμνήσθησαν they remembered ὅτι that ταῦτα these things ἦν were ἐπ᾽ about αὐτῷ Him γεγραμμένα written καὶ and ταῦτα these things ἐποίησαν they had done αὐτῷ.¶ to Him.

12:17 Ἐμαρτύρει was bearing witness οὖν therefore ὁ the ὄχλος crowd ὁ which ὢν is being μετ᾽ with αὐτοῦ, Him ὅτε when τὸν <the> Λάζαρον Lazarus ἐφώνησεν He called ἐκ out of τοῦ the μνημείου tomb καὶ and ἤγειρεν raised αὐτὸν him ἐκ out from νεκρῶν. [the] dead.

12:18 διὰ On account of τοῦτο this καὶ also ὑπήντησεν met αὐτῷ with Him ὁ the ὄχλος, crowd, ὅτι because ἤκουσαν they heard τοῦτο this αὐτὸν of His πεποιηκέναι to have done τὸ the σημεῖον.¶ sign.

12:19 Οἱ <the> οὖν Therefore Φαρισαῖοι the Pharisees εἶπαν said πρὸς among ἑαυτούς· themselves; θεωρεῖτε You see ὅτι that οὐκ not ὠφελεῖτε you gain οὐδέν; no [thing]? ἴδε Behold ὁ the κόσμος world ὅλος ₓₓwholly ὀπίσω after αὐτοῦ Him ἀπῆλθεν.¶ has gone.
