Numbers 27:6 - 27:23
27:6 And Yahweh said to Moses, saying,
27:7 “The statements of the daughters of Zelophehad are right. You must surely give them the property of an inheritance in the midst of their father’s brothers, and you must transfer the inheritance of their father to them.
27:8 And you must speak to the Israelites, saying, ‘If a man dies and has no son, you must transfer his inheritance to his daughter.
27:9 And if he has no daughter, you must give his inheritance to his brothers.
27:10 If he has no brothers, then you must give his inheritance to his father’s brothers.
27:11 If his father has no brothers, then you must give his inheritance to his nearest relative from his own clan, and he will take possession of it. It will be as a decree of stipulation for the Israelites, just as Yahweh commanded Moses.’”
27:12 Yahweh said to Moses, “Go up to this mountain of Abarim, and see the land that I have given to the Israelites.
27:13 When you see it, you will be gathered to your people, just as Aaron your brother was gathered,
27:14 because you rebelled against my word in the desert of Zin when the community quarreled regarding my holiness at the waters.” (These are the waters of Meribah-Kadesh in the desert of Zin.)
27:15 Joshua Succeeds Moses
Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
27:16 “Let Yahweh, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the community
27:17 who will go out before them and will come in before them, and who will lead them out and bring them in, so the community of Yahweh will not be like a flock that does not have a shepherd.”
27:18 Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and place your hand on him.
27:19 Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and before the entire community, and commission him in their sight.
27:20 You will give to him from your authority so that the entire community of Israel will obey him.
27:21 He will stand before Eleazar the priest, who will ask for him by the decision of the Urim before Yahweh. On his command they will go out, and at his command they will come in, both he and all of the Israelites with him, the entire community.”
27:22 Moses did just as Yahweh commanded him, and he took Joshua and set him before Eleazar the priest and before the entire community.
27:23 And he placed his hands on him and commissioned him just as Yahweh spoke by the hand of Moses.

Numbers 27:6 - 27:23
27:6 The Lord spoke to him. He said,
27:7 “What Zelophehad’s daughters are saying is right. You must certainly give them property. Give them a share among their father’s relatives. Turn their father’s property over to them.
27:8 “Say to the people of Israel, ‘Suppose a man dies who doesn’t have a son. Then turn his property over to his daughter.
27:9 Suppose the man doesn’t have a daughter. Then give his property to his brothers.
27:10 Suppose the man doesn’t have any brothers. Then give his property to his father’s brothers.
27:11 Suppose his father doesn’t have any brothers. Then give his property to the nearest male relative in his family group. It will belong to him. That is what the law will require of the people of Israel. It is just as the Lord commanded me.’”
27:12 Joshua Becomes Israel’s New Leader
Then the Lord spoke to Moses. He said, “Go up this mountain in the Abarim range. See the land I have given the people of Israel.
27:13 After you have seen it, you too will join the members of your family who have already died. You will die, just as your brother Aaron did.
27:14 “The community refused to obey me at the waters of Meribah Kadesh. At that time, you and Aaron did not obey my command. You did not honor me in front of them as the holy God.” Meribah Kadesh is in the Desert of Zin.
27:15 Moses spoke to the Lord. He said,
27:16 “Lord, you are the God who creates the spirits of all people. Please appoint a man to lead this community.
27:17 Put him in charge of them. Tell him to take care of them. Then your people won’t be like sheep that don’t have a shepherd.”
27:18 So the Lord said to Moses, “Joshua, the son of Nun, has the ability to be a wise leader. Get him and place your hand on him.
27:19 Have him stand in front of the priest Eleazar and the whole community. Put him in charge while everyone is watching.
27:20 Give him some of your authority. Then the whole community of Israel will obey him.
27:21 “Joshua will stand in front of the priest Eleazar. Eleazar will help him make decisions. Eleazar will get help from me by using the Urim. Joshua and the whole community of Israel must not make any move at all unless I command them to.”
27:22 Moses did just as the Lord commanded him. He got Joshua and had him stand in front of the priest Eleazar and the whole community.
27:23 Then Moses placed his hands on Joshua. And he put him in charge of the people. He did just as the Lord had directed through Moses.
