LEB translation
Leviticus 5:11 - 6:7
5:11 “‘But if he cannot afford two turtledoves or two young doves, then, because he has sinned, he shall bring as his offering a tenth of an ephah of finely milled flour as a sin offering. He must not put oil on it, nor should he put frankincense on it, because it is a sin offering.
5:12 He shall bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take a handful of it for its token portion, and he shall turn it to smoke on the altar in addition to the offerings made by fire to Yahweh; it is a sin offering.
5:13 Thus the priest shall make atonement for him because of the sin that he has committed in any of these, and he shall be forgiven. It shall be for the priest, like the grain offering.’”
5:14 Laws for Guilt Offerings
Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
5:15 “When a person displays infidelity and he sins in an unintentional wrong in any of Yahweh’s holy things, then he shall bring his guilt offering to Yahweh: a ram without defect from the flock as a guilt offering by your valuation in silver shekels according to the sanctuary shekel.
5:16 And he shall make restitution for what he sinned because of a holy thing and shall add one-fifth of its value onto it and shall give it to the priest. The priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering, and he will be forgiven.
5:17 “If a person when he sins violates one from all of Yahweh’s commands that should not be violated, but he did not know, then he is guilty and he shall bear his guilt.
5:18 He shall bring to the priest a ram without defect from the flock as a guilt offering by your valuation, and the priest shall make atonement for him because of his unintentional wrong (although he himself did not know), and he will be forgiven.
5:19 It is a guilt offering; he certainly was guilty before Yahweh.”
6:1 Additional Laws for Burnt Offerings
Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
6:2 “When a person displays infidelity against Yahweh and he deceives his fellow citizen regarding something entrusted or a pledge or stealing or he exploits his fellow citizen,
6:3 or he finds lost property and lies about it and swears falsely in regard to any one of these things by which a person might commit sin,
6:4 and when he sins and is guilty, then he shall bring back the things he had stolen or what he had extorted or something with which he had been entrusted or the lost property that he had found,
6:5 or regarding anything about which he has sworn falsely, then he shall repay it according to its value and shall add one-fifth of its value to it—he must give it to whom it belongs on the day of his guilt offering.
6:6 And he must bring as his guilt offering to Yahweh a ram without defect from the flock by your valuation as a guilt offering to the priest,
6:7 and the priest shall make atonement for him before Yahweh, and he shall be forgiven anything from all that he might do by which he might incur guilt.”
NIRV translation
Leviticus 5:11 - 6:7
5:11 “‘But suppose he can’t afford two doves or two young pigeons. Then he must bring eight cups of fine flour as an offering for his sin. It is a sin offering. He must not put olive oil or incense on it. That is because it is a sin offering.
5:12 “‘He must bring it to the priest. The priest must take a handful of it. He must burn that part on the altar. It will be a reminder that all good things come from the Lord. The priest must burn it on top of the offerings that are made to the Lord with fire. It is a sin offering.
5:13 “‘In that way the priest will pay for any of the sins the person has committed. And he will be forgiven. The rest of the offering will belong to the priest. It is the same as in the case of the grain offering.’”
5:14 Rules for Guilt Offerings
The Lord spoke to Moses. He said,
5:15 “Suppose a person sins by breaking the law. And he does it without meaning to. He sins against me or my priests by refusing to give them one of the holy things that are set apart for them.
“Then he must bring me a ram from the flock. It must not have any flaws. It must be worth the required amount of silver. It must be weighed out in keeping with the standard weights that are used in the sacred tent. It is a guilt offering. It will pay for his sin.
5:16 “He must also pay for the holy thing he refused to give. He must add a fifth of its value to it. He must give all of it to the priest. The priest will pay for the person’s sin with the ram. It is a guilt offering. And he will be forgiven.
5:17 “Suppose a person sins by doing something I command him not to do. Even though he does not know it, he is guilty. He will be held accountable for it.
5:18 “He must bring to the priest a ram from the flock as a guilt offering. It must not have any flaws. And it must be worth the required amount of money.
“The priest will sacrifice the animal. That will pay for what the person has done wrong without meaning to. And he will be forgiven.
5:19 It is a guilt offering. He has been guilty of doing wrong against me.”
6:1 The Lord spoke to Moses. He said,
6:2 “Suppose a person sins by not being faithful to me. He does it by tricking his neighbors. He tricks them in connection with something they have placed in his care. He steals from them. Or he cheats them.
6:3 Or he finds something they have lost and then tells a lie about it. Or he goes to court. He takes an oath and tells a lie when he witnesses about it. Or he commits any other sin like those sins.
6:4 “When he sins in any of those ways, he becomes guilty. He must return what he stole. He must give back what he took by cheating his neighbors. He must return what they placed in his care. He must return the lost property he found.
6:5 He must return anything he told a lie about when he witnessed in court. He must pay back everything in full. He must add a fifth of its value to it. He must give all of it to the owner on the day he brings his guilt offering.
6:6 “He must bring his guilt offering to the priest to pay for his sin. It is an offering to me. He must bring a ram from the flock. It must not have any flaws. It must be worth the required amount of money.
6:7 “The priest will sacrifice the ram to pay for the person’s sin. He will do it in my sight. And the person will be forgiven for any of the things he did that made him guilty.”

Gospel — Matthew 5:21-5:48
LEB translation
Matthew 5:21-5:48
5:21 The Sermon on the Mount: Anger Toward Others
“You have heard that it was said to the people of old, ‘Do not commit murder,’ and ‘whoever commits murder will be subject to judgment.’
5:22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry at his brother will be subject to judgment, and whoever says to his brother, ‘Stupid fool!’ will be subject to the council, and whoever says, ‘Obstinate fool!’ will be subject to fiery hell.
5:23 Therefore if you present your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,
5:24 leave your gift there before the altar and first go be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your gift.
5:25 Settle the case quickly with your accuser while you are with him on the way, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you be thrown into prison.
5:26 Truly I say to you, you will never come out of there until you have paid back the last penny!
5:27 The Sermon on the Mount: Adultery and Lust
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’
5:28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
5:29 And if your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it from you! For it is better for you that one of your members be destroyed than your whole body be thrown into hell.
5:30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it from you! For it is better for you that one of your limbs be destroyed than your whole body go into hell.
5:31 The Sermon on the Mount: Divorce
“And it was said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’
5:32 But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for a matter of sexual immorality, causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
5:33 The Sermon on the Mount: Taking Oaths
“Again you have heard that it was said to the people of old, ‘Do not swear falsely, but fulfill your oaths to the Lord.’
5:34 But I say to you, do not swear at all, either by heaven, because it is the throne of God,
5:35 or by the earth, because it is the footstool of his feet, or by Jerusalem, because it is the city of the great king.
5:36 And do not swear by your head, because you are not able to make one hair white or black.
5:37 But let your statement be ‘Yes, yes; no, no,’ and anything beyond these is from the evil one.
5:38 The Sermon on the Mount: Retaliation
“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’
5:39 But I say to you, do not resist the evildoer, but whoever strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other to him also.
5:40 And the one who wants to go to court with you and take your tunic, let him have your outer garment also.
5:41 And whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two.
5:42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
5:43 The Sermon on the Mount: Love for Enemies
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor’ and ‘Hate your enemy.’
5:44 But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
5:45 in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven, because he causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust.
5:46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not the tax collectors also do the same?
5:47 And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing that is remarkable? Do not the Gentiles also do the same?
5:48 Therefore you be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.
NIRV translation
Matthew 5:21-5:48
5:21 Murder
“You have heard what was said to people who lived long ago. They were told, ‘Do not commit murder. () Anyone who murders will be judged for it.’
5:22 But here is what I tell you. Do not be angry with your brother. Anyone who is angry with his brother will be judged. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ must stand trial in the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire in hell.
5:23 “Suppose you are offering your gift at the altar. And you remember that your brother has something against you.
5:24 Leave your gift in front of the altar. First go and make peace with your brother. Then come back and offer your gift.
5:25 “Suppose someone has a claim against you and is taking you to court. Settle the matter quickly. Do it while you are still with him on your way. If you don’t, he may hand you over to the judge. The judge may hand you over to the officer. And you may be thrown into prison.
5:26 What I’m about to tell you is true. You will not get out until you have paid the very last penny!
5:27 Adultery
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ ()
5:28 But here is what I tell you. Do not even look at a woman in the wrong way. Anyone who does has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
5:29 “If your right eye causes you to sin, poke it out and throw it away. Your eye is only one part of your body. It is better to lose it than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
5:30 “If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. Your hand is only one part of your body. It is better to lose it than for your whole body to go into hell.
5:31 Divorce
“It has been said, ‘Suppose a man divorces his wife. If he does, he must give her a letter of divorce.’ ()
5:32 But here is what I tell you. Anyone who divorces his wife causes her to commit adultery. And anyone who gets married to the divorced woman commits adultery. A man may divorce his wife only if she has not been faithful to him.
5:33 Oaths
“Again, you have heard what was said to your people long ago. They were told, ‘Do not break the promises you make to the Lord. Keep the oaths you have made to him.’
5:34 But here is what I tell you. Do not make any promises like that at all. Do not make them in the name of heaven. That is God’s throne.
5:35 Do not make them in the name of the earth. That is the stool for God’s feet. Do not make them in the name of Jerusalem. That is the city of the Great King.
5:36 And do not take an oath in the name of your head. You can’t make even one hair white or black.
5:37 “Just let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes.’ Let your ‘No’ mean ‘No.’ Anything more than this comes from the evil one.
5:38 Be Kind to Others
“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye must be put out for an eye. A tooth must be knocked out for a tooth.’ (; ; )
5:39 But here is what I tell you. Do not fight against an evil person.
“Suppose someone hits you on your right cheek. Turn your other cheek to him also.
5:40 Suppose someone takes you to court to get your shirt. Let him have your coat also.
5:41 Suppose someone forces you to go one mile. Go two miles with him.
5:42 “Give to the one who asks you for something. Don’t turn away from the one who wants to borrow something from you.
5:43 Love Your Enemies
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor. () Hate your enemy.’
5:44 But here is what I tell you. Love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you.
5:45 Then you will be sons of your Father who is in heaven.
“He causes his sun to shine on evil people and good people. He sends rain on those who do right and those who don’t.
5:46 “If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Even the tax collectors do that.
5:47 If you greet only your own people, what more are you doing than others? Even people who are ungodly do that.
5:48 So be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
