Numbers 4:21 - 4:37
4:21 Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,
4:22 “Take a census of the descendants of Gershon also, according to their families and clans,
4:23 from those twenty years old and above until fifty years old; you will muster them, all who come to help to do the work of the tent of assembly.
4:24 This is the work of the clans of the Gershonites: to serve and to carry.
4:25 They will carry the curtains of the tabernacle and the tent of assembly and its covering and the covering of fine leather, which is on top of it, and the curtain of the doorway of the tent of assembly,
4:26 and the curtains of the courtyard, and the covering for the doorway of the gate of the courtyard, which is all around on the tabernacle and altar, and their cords and all the vessels of their work; and all that is done to them they will do.
4:27 And all the work of the descendants of the Gershonites will be at the command of Aaron and his sons, for all they are to carry and for all their work, and you will appoint to them responsibility for all they are to carry.
4:28 This is the work of the clan of the descendants of the Gershonites in the tent of assembly, and their responsibility lies under the direction of Ithamar son of Aaron the priest.
4:29 “For the descendants of Merari according to their clans, according to their families, you will muster them;
4:30 from those thirty years old and above until fifty years old; you will muster them, all who come to do the work of the tent of assembly.
4:31 And this is the responsibility of those who are to carry, all their work in the tent of assembly: the frames of the tabernacle and its bars, pillars, and bases,
4:32 and the pillars of the courtyard all around, and their bases, pegs, and cords, with all their vessels and for all their work. You will appoint by name the vessels that they are responsible to carry.
4:33 This is the work of the clan of the descendants of Merari, for all their work in the tent of assembly under the direction of Ithamar son of Aaron the priest.”
4:34 And Moses and Aaron mustered the leaders of the community according to the house of their families,
4:35 from those thirty years old and above until fifty years old; everyone who comes to the service to work in the tent of assembly,
4:36 the ones counted were two thousand seven hundred and fifty.
4:37 These were those counted of the clans of the Kohathites, everyone who served in the tent of assembly whom Moses and Aaron mustered according to the command of Yahweh by the hand of Moses.
NIRV translation
Numbers 4:21 - 4:37
4:21 The Gershon Families
The Lord said to Moses,
4:22 “Count the Gershon families. Make a list of them family by family.
4:23 Count all of the men who are from 30 to 50 years old. Those are the men who must come and serve at the Tent of Meeting.
4:24 “Here is how the Gershon families must serve. They must carry things.
4:25 They must carry the curtains of the holy Tent of Meeting. They must carry its covering and the outside covering of the hides of sea cows. They must carry the curtains that cover the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
4:26 They must carry the curtains of the courtyard. The courtyard is all around the holy tent and altar. They must carry the curtain for the entrance. They must carry the ropes. They must also carry all of the supplies that are used for any purpose in the tent. The men of Gershon must do everything that needs to be done with those things.
4:27 “All of their work must be done under the direction of Aaron and his sons. That includes carrying and everything else they do. Aaron and his sons must tell them what to carry. And that will be their work.
4:28 It is what the Gershon families must do at the Tent of Meeting. They must work under the direction of the priest Ithamar. He is the son of Aaron.
4:29 The Merari Families
“Count the Merari families. Count them family by family.
4:30 Count all of the men who are from 30 to 50 years old. Those are the men who must come and serve at the Tent of Meeting.
4:31 “Here is the work they must do at the Tent of Meeting. They must carry the frames of the holy tent. They must carry its crossbars, posts and bases.
4:32 They must also carry the posts of the courtyard. The courtyard is all around the holy tent. And they must carry the bases for the posts as well as their tent stakes and ropes. They must also carry all of the supplies and everything that is connected with their use. Tell each man exactly what to carry.
4:33 That is the work the Merari families must do at the Tent of Meeting. They must work under the direction of the priest Ithamar. He is the son of Aaron.”
4:34 Counting the Families of the Levites
Moses, Aaron and the leaders of the community counted the men of Kohath. They counted them family by family.
4:35 They counted all of the men who were from 30 to 50 years old. Those were the men who came and served at the Tent of Meeting.
4:36 There were 2,750 men. They were counted family by family.
4:37 That was the total of all of the men in the Kohath families who served at the Tent of Meeting. Moses and Aaron counted them. They did just as the Lord had commanded through Moses.

Gospel — Luke 5:1-11
LEB translation
Luke 5:1-11
5:1 Jesus Calls His First Disciples
Now it happened that while the crowd was pressing around him and hearing the word of God, he was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret,
5:2 and he saw two boats there beside the lake, but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets.
5:3 And he got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out from the land a little. And he sat down and began to teach the crowds from the boat.
5:4 And when he stopped speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.”
5:5 And Simon answered and said, “Master, although we worked hard through the whole night, we caught nothing. But at your word I will let down the nets.”
5:6 And when they did this, they caught a very large number of fish, and their nets began to tear.
5:7 And they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both the boats so that they began to sink.
5:8 And when he saw it, Simon Peter fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, Lord, because I am a sinful man!”
5:9 For amazement had seized him and all those who were with him at the catch of fish that they had caught,
5:10 and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were business partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid! From now on you will be catching people!”
5:11 And after they brought their boats to the land, they left everything and followed him.
NIRV translation
Luke 5:1-11
5:1 Jesus Chooses the First Disciples
One day Jesus was standing by the Sea of Galilee. The people crowded around him and listened to the word of God.
5:2 Jesus saw two boats at the edge of the water. They had been left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets.
5:3 He got into the boat that belonged to Simon. Jesus asked him to go out a little way from shore. Then he sat down in the boat and taught the people.
5:4 When he finished speaking, he turned to Simon. He said, “Go out into deep water. Let the nets down so you can catch some fish.”
5:5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
5:6 When they had done so, they caught a large number of fish. There were so many that their nets began to break.
5:7 So they motioned to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. They came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
5:8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees. “Go away from me, Lord!” he said. “I am a sinful man!”
5:9 He and everyone with him were amazed at the number of fish they had caught.
5:10 So were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who worked with Simon.
Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid. From now on you will catch people.”
5:11 So they pulled their boats up on shore. Then they left everything and followed him.
